well make a nice stong beat now, then add the bassline and eq it till the bassline fits

you should always be making the bass fit with the drums not the other way round.

by all means make basslines first but you dont want to comprimise the beats

Try to listen the bassline slower...
Maybe the breaks will come in the mind....
But as Cynik says ... put all together it is the best way...

I don't think this is purely a matter of EQ, also the rythm of the drums should fit the flow of the drumline, that is not only a matter of EQ, but mainly a matter of beat and note programming.

I agree I think that milkman has troubles with drum programing after he had programed the bassline

I trick that I use if I want that. Is I sync my break and bassline and trigger them at the same time. So they are perfectly sync bass hit to kick or to snare whatever kind of sounding your going for....if you no what i mean. Then I take the bassline and Reverse it, then add sustain, and low filter with no highs and about 25% res. Then change the temp for each hit. Then add FX. Check it out, it might sound like alot, but its a quick fix. Also, I would either use a 808 or 303 cause those are easier to morph around and get the right sound. hope that helps
