I was just wondering what type of effect to use, or possibly some kind of EQ sweep, to get that distinctive wah sound on a bass hit. Not some sort of funky wah wah thing, more like a bass sound that sounds like it actually came from someone's mouth.
Its a type of sound you hear a lot in the more grimy style DnB. Hope thats not to confusing...

square waves tend to make the best "classic wobble". imo.
you get a much cleaner "wahwow" sound
i think thats what you mean anyway.
baz is right, synapse junglist is a perfect synth for em.
its all in the attack and delay on the filter envelope. (same with most synths)
i usually take all the sustain down first, then depending on how long i want my "wah" sound, i turn the attack up
(the more its up, the longer the wah), then turn the decay down a bit for a sharper end of the wob.
hope that helps.

I checked out that thread for the reese bassline and the 'wobble', but im pretty new to the whole DnB scene and still trying to work out a lot of the technical side of things.
Can anyone provide a more simple explenation.
Also, i have the synth FM8, and it has this feature talkbox. I think this is part of the effect that im talking about - If i scroll the effect wheel it will make the synth sound that im using go from 'Wah' to 'Eeh' to 'Aow' (Hope that isnt too confusing
) . I think this is usually used on the wobble to give it a 'weaow' type of sound.
How is this actually done?

you sayed that you want the sound that seems to come from a mouth, don't you want a bass with a formant effect, so that bass is like "speaked" by a man ??? or it was the wobble...
for the wobble, seven gun and baz are right, i just wanna add that with fruity loops above 6 version, you can easily link a filter with a lfo, so you can easily do a repeated wobble at the speed you want. if you want a .flp showing that thing just ask.

I have kind of got the hang of making a basic wobble in Massive. Its pretty easy to link an lfo to the filter cutoff. But im finding it hard to make it sound that decent e.g. when i assign the lfo to high cut filter on massive one side of the wobble is bassy and the other side isnt. When i make a wobble i dont want the bass to be wobbling as much as the main sound. Do you guys know what i mean? Is it possible to assign an lfo through a filter to only one or two oscilators on massive, leaving another oscilator for sub bass?

from my little knowlege of wobs, attack and decay are the key as is the ammount of filter u want on the sample. effects and eq'ing are also essential. also TIME AND PRACTICE!
