i usually like everything as loud as can be.

but i also use dynamic mixing too and filter event sweeps.
helps imo.

i'm trying to compress and limit the minimum i can to let the original sound raise to his top. i 'm always looking at the db metter when i produce, i disable all limiters on my tune and decresae volume of channels to keep the master meter under -3dB, then i add a master limiter and block it att -3db to be sure that they will be no clips, then i raise the volume to 0db with a simple gain or a compressor. is that good ? dunno...

Chomp, that can give a overcompressed sound of the track. Try doing the limiting with the very compressor.

doesnt mean because the industry is mastering so loud these days that you have to do so too.. just go in the studio and master with the insight of making the track sound nicer than it already does.. thats wat mastering is all about not something about the louder the better... plus if it sounds good then why not? and liking something is subjective... i mean some people like schranz and thats just lots of highs and i dont like it but people out there do.. so whats wrong with overmastering and compressing.. in the end it goes back to the musician and then straight to the crowd themselves... no one decides for you...

i master and then it sounds better to my ears and im happy.. its all about practice and learning the quality of it.

plus we all know harder better faster stronger = better

man i've got some cd's here at home from the last decade, that i can't even play on some hifi systems, or not even on my laptop, just cause it's way too loud, and then i'm just talking bout the ones that really go over the top

there's lots of emotion in a track lost when overcompressed,
i really can't explain, you'd have to make an A-B comparison to prove that

there is no emotion in my tracks when they are done regardless of dynamic. there's other ways to cause dynamics, just the easiest way to increase enrgy is to increase volume. so if the volume is balls to the wall, there's no room to increase... EXCEPT TO INCREASE THE PRECEPTION OF VOLUME. add more distortion.

I am really not aware what will they do when they achieve the maximum loudness possible?!...

Just checked out his MySpace. Good tunes but definitely over compressed. The loud stuff is flattened and doesn't sound as intense as it should Roll Eyes

Just listening to Pink Floyd's 1994 album The Division Bell... now that's a well produced album. Full range of dynamics. Yeah, I had to turn the volume up after listening to the latest Commix album, but big deal. It took like 5 seconds and sounded much better for it. Big Grin
