Hey guys,
I have been producing HipHop beats for 6 months now.
I have been using Fruity loops studio.
Now im sick of having to work with my pc keyboard, so i decided to buy a midi controler.
I was thinking about M-audio Radium49.
So my question is does this keyboard have it's own sounds that i can record in FL or it is just a controler that uses sounds from the software..In this case Fruity Loops 6.
Thank you in advance.

Nope, it is just as it says: MIDI controller. No built-in sounds or presets.
But you don't need them, actually. The quality of software synths is overpassing the quality of the hardware synths nowadays.
Oh yeah, check this one:

Dude, be alright, I didn't say that ALL software synthetizers pass hardware synths in quality.
The thing is that the way of synthesis can be emulated perfectly by the CPU on your computer, so the source sound quality is the same.
The problems with software synths (which hardware synths don't have) are these:
limited headroom. On most systems you have 96 dB headroom, which, for me, is enough but if you want great dynamics, 96 dB is lacking.
CPU non-friendly - all software synths take up CPU to process themselves, so you need to have a strong machine (not particularly if you want to drive 2 or 3 synths, but very strong if you need 64 synths playing at once
) or another computer which will process them all.
In contrary, hardware synths have (virtually) unlimited headroom and also don't take CPU
but aren't upgradeable. Nowadays, you can always make a beast out of your PC, but you can't make that out of your synth.
Here, hope that helps.
