"recycle" or just use your sequencer,
i mainly use cubase to just chop out a couple or recycle if i wanna load of them out of one bit of audio.
there are loads of free programs to do this, its just a case of looking around.

If you want to rip sounds from the DVD itself
check this thread or this thread.

The way I do it is easy, just:
1. Have the film on the pc as a video format.
2. Then, using a file converter I convert it into an mp3 or wav.
3. Then using cool edit, I cut the bit I want out and put it into my song.
Hope this works for you...

Extracting the audio is very simple: open Audacity (free audio editing software, can record whatever you hear), open the movie, skip to the part you want to sample, hit record. There you go.

Soundforge?? Forget about that, it's way overpriced for this task. I don't think Strom is going to spend 300€ for Soundforge to record some samples from movies when he can do it for free with Audacity.
Even for general audio work 300€ is way too much. You can get Pro Tools LE including an USB audio interface for less. Easy choice to make.

I think the dude just wants a nice simple app to do the job. Sound Forge and Cubase is just over-kill. (esp if you never used them before!)
Although you didn't mention it, I assume the film you are trying to rip is playing on your PC?
If thats the case, I would use Audio Record Expert. It just a small app that captures anything coming through you sound card and encodes it in a number of formats.
You can get it on trial, or pay $30 for full version.
