some apps like wiretap allow you to record internal audio with the click of a button and basically edit fade ins and outs and start/end points directly, and send them directly to a wave file.

check it out !

I had the same problem with sound forge it worked before I reinstalled windows.
So I used Audacity instead.
Windows or Mac.

Not as good as Sound forge - on pro terms - but it works.

you could also just use your windows audio recorder (in case you have windows) and set it up so it's recording your sound cards output. Now you can record any internal audio and not just the one from a dvd.

When you do so, be sure that no mic is plugged in and the mic recording is disabeld. Otherwhise audio recorder will record both at the same time and the result is bad bad quality.

That's what Audacity & Sony soundforge do amongst other things.
They record internal audio from your soundcards output as well as let you chop them up like Recycle for Reason and/or add fx and other things.

Audacity is a free program too for Windows or mac.

I use the lazy method: record it while playing the DVD. Audacity works fine

I used to use the windows recorder method. That thing is pretty sweet. Its awesome for chopping samples if you don't have a fancy plugin. Actually now that I think about it, all that save as-ing wasn't that awesome....

I use Audio Hijack Pro. It allows you to rip from any source app, (DVD player, Web browser, etc)
It also lets you use VST and Au to effect/ enhance the audio. I use the free version that records up to 10 minutes before adding noise to recording. (Which works just fine for me)
I'm on a mac so that may be a problem for you as I'm not sure if AHP is mac only.
