Eazy peeps, now I've got a tune I started working on a few months back and STILL haven't got round to finishing it yet as other projects came up and I got too wrapped up in those to finish this one.
I was looking at using a Vocoder on this one for the main melody / drop - basically I want to get that "robotic / melodic" kinda sound for some vocals that I will be recording - trouble is I've already tried to process some vocals in the past on Cubase with the vocoder plug-in and have come nowhere near the sound I am looking for - u know the one I'm talking about
any suggestions on additional plug-ins I could possibly download or even advice on what I may be doing wrong currently would be a great help - I guess this is kinda new to me as I haven't done much mellow chilled stuff recently (only heavier stuff)
I can try and find some examples if u guys don't know what type of sound I'm after...
To get good results from a vocoder you have to chose the right sounds. It's also important that you put the voice in the modulator signal, not in the carrier signal.
For the carrier try sounds with a lot of high harmonics, classic is using a saw wave, played in chords

Thanks Chronic, just tested it out last night and it worked a charm after a few fiddles here n there with the various knobs (that sounds dodgy lol), definately got to experiment with it. I'm quite excited as this is another instrument in my arsenal
thanks Border as well, will give the white noise a try asd well
just to say, tried this a while back after the advice and it worked a treat!
only prob now is to make a tune where it fits properly - timing, correct chords etc etc

Relly like Spor's Supernova. Vocoder on that one is quality. I think maybe also CValue's Darkrain.
