Please check out my new track 'Gasoline Baptism Vocal Mix', post your comments here and vote for it!!!

This is a piece of composition work for my music tech A2 level, unfortunately weve been given a limit of 3 minutes for track length so its a bit too short, but theres not much i can do about that :p

This is a spin off of my first piece i made in Reason, there was a breakdown section at the end of a brutal jungle track thats basically a shorter and not as developed version of this, which is a track in its own right...

Its sorta a mish mash of trip hop, trance and jungle, basically trying to show off to the examiners a lil bit :p

I learnt a hell of a lot about reason making this track, which started as me just arsing about to try and get a feel for it cos ive never used it before.
i managed to figure out sidechaining and i learnt how to use the automation on the synths from inside reason, as i find the automation on cubase a bit temperamental and confusing...

So anyway, lemme know what ya think of it, any constructive criticism is welcomed, cos i can improve it to get an A Big Grin , and if ya have any questions just ask Smile

(edit) forgot to add, this is basically finished, all that needs doing is the vocal recording and anything that you guys suggest :p

Nice tune, very atmospheric intro, reminds of a few nights in the ol camden palace. I like the editing that youve done with all the drum beats, though i reckon u could do with more high end sounds in there too. compare it to one of pendulums tracks, not so keen on them tbh but they are amazing with their production skills. yeh its a nice mix of trance and dnb but i rekon to make it into a rokin track u need to turn up that lead in the intro, maybe layer it with other leads on different instruments to giv it some beef. try messing more with the eq to make your beats phatter aswell, they are lacking punch a bit. one thing i like to do is to layer the snares to giv them a real nice phwack. Might sound like im bitching but I do like the tune mate, a few tweaks here and there n u got a bad arse track. noticed that ur not a fan of cubase, i found that on a slow machine yeh the automation is a bit odd to say the least but overall i would try making your tunes on that cos its a better program at the end of the day. anyways keep on making those tunes. youve got potential if thats what ur doing for school.

Cheers man ill have a look at those drums, they sound a bit too reasony now ya mention it :p

And nah i love cubase, i rewire reason into cubase cos the sequencer in reasons a bit crap imo, the only thing i dont like too much about cubase is the automation, but apart from that its really easy to use and pretty powerful and it has a high pass filter and can load VSTs unlike reason :p

ill have another look over it and see what i can do Smile cheers

disgusting lol but anyhows...

sounds in intro must be louder , that digicrap synth sounds so thin unfortunatly and must be louder.
the trance is coming in ... good fx on it , sounds really µgood.
drum droppping , lol not good , their offbeat , too silent and not powerfull.
and maybe boost the tempo a bit , its really slow breakbeat .

sounds cool but not fresh , turn things up as loud as possible

this is the kinda stuff i was looking to hear lol Big Grin
tellin it like it is, cheers man Smile

ill have a look at that lead synth agen i didnt like it turned up loud but im see if i can do something with it Smile bit of eq should help, bearing in mind i cant have it too much louder cos i still have vocals to go in...

Im afraid i dont understand where ur coming from about the drums... we talkin bout the amen or the midi drums?

and i fink the tempo things a matter of taste really, ive dabbled in faster stuff, and i find it sorta smooths out everything and i dunno personally i think it sounds a bit too smooth :p... im all for the old skool jungle tempos (150-160ish) where its nice n choppy and i find it gets the head nod effect in people :p
