Hardware wise it shouldn't be any problem. All PC's made in the last 15 years or something use IDE interface for harddisks. Newer motherboards using SATA interface, usually still have 1 or 2 IDE ports available, so no problem there...
Software wise, you might get some trouble.
If the harddrive you want to move contains only data, there is no problem at all
If the harddrive has windows XP installed on it, you should consider this:
Windows XP could cause some problems. The win XP registration code check, uses several key components of your pc, such as the cpu, to check if the registration is ok etc. If you change the cpu, motherboard etc. XP can give you some trouble. You can request a new registration key from microsoft, explaining you upgraded your pc etc. If your previous registration is legit, it shouldn't take too much trouble to get it.
If you have a warez version of XP, the check is probably disabled, or you can bypass it the same way you did the first time.
If you have 2 partitions, like one with data and one with OS etc. you could consider reinstalling XP.

To avoid XP security from going all freaked out you could buy an external disc cabinet (for around $25 you should have one) and connect the disc over USB. Later on you can reuse this cabinet to add extra storage to your machine by replacing your old disc with a new one. Also cool for backups etc...

wtf Linux is bad?? this site is hosted on a Linux based computer. its WAY more stable plus software for it is cheap.
it is the western (read USA) ideology launched by MS arse bandits of Linux being "communist" because it doesn't adhere to their rules and is the direct opposition to Microsoft's monopolistic strategy. they still use the word communist for fuk sakes. they have no fucking idea what comunism means
Microsoft
