does it really make a difference?

you can find the switch on any sampler, sample based machine

well since I rewire in ableton for final cuts always, I wonder does it make any difference since it doesn't use reason's sound engine at all..

I switch it on too. should be on by default, or to be able to save a "blank preset"...

so it saves me of the necessary actions everytime I create a f.e. drrex ..

-turn filter off
-turn interpolation on
-set master volume to half

Same here.

I can notice a difference, but it's only REALLY noticeable under certain circumstances - for example, you have two Dr. REX samplers playing similar breaks in absence of accompaniment (bass, etc. is all muted). With the high quality interpolation switch active on both, they're going to fit together better; their sound will be 'fuller'. I don't know exactly how Reason does it (I would assume it's just cross-referencing tracks and applying a slight delay or attenuation to certain samples), but it's just a method of preventing discordant phase cancellations that are common when any two similar samples are played at the same time (which, if the samples are close enough to produce any serious problems, will sound hollow).

I find that it never really affects performance all that much in work I've been doing, so I turn it on regardless.
