i think i know what hes on about.. although i cant say i even have it anymore.. i memorized and ditched it.. some of the values are right but on a whole man really you should just listen. your ears are your friends, not just decoration to keep your hat up.

You would be making a very big mistake if you are going to EQ by numbers.
So what does it say in there? EQ for kick drum: boost 60Hz +3dB, cut 200Hz -4dB...???
What if you have a kick sound that already has too much around 60Hz? Or that has a 60Hz hum in it? Would you boost that because the table tells you to do it?
And if you have a bassline that has its most important frequency around 60Hz? Just boost the kick, it's in the table, fuck the bassline?
Just forget about the table alright, do yourself a favour and just twiddle the EQ knobs until it sounds right.

I partly agree. It's true that in matters like this one, it is mostly better to listen to your ears and what they say - and it is, of course, the most important element since the end result will come into ears too - but using certain 'knowledge', well established facts is better than discovering all by yourself.
So, we should not invent the circle again, but take the circle from its' creator and use it for further advancements.
I'm just pointing out that people have already discovered certain things, and it is stupid to discover those things again by yourself, instead of using them.
At the end, choose your way - I start with the numbers, and then I tweak with my ears.
