I need some HighQ .wav files for an article I'm writing.
In audacity I can set the sampling frequency of the audio track to 96KHz, but when exporting to .WAV it is forced back into 44.1KHz.
Is there a way to have the exported file also in 96KHz?
I really need this because the sound quality on high frequencies is not very good at 44.1 (too much noise introduced, 20KHz becomes audible again...)
I tried to make them in wavelab but that didn't work like I wanted either, so if anyone could explain me how to do this from one of these programs (with a tone generated in the program), please enlighten me.

OK I found out how to do it.
Apparently you also have to set the project rate (in the lower left corner) also to 96KHz.
