but that's energy waves, sounds pressure, it's moving other particles, not sending out energy?
going to find out

okay here's the easy explanation. frequency and wavelength are related eachother by this simple formula: Wavelength = speed/frequency.
Light and other electromagnetic waves travel through vacuum at a speed of 300.000 km/s (similar speeds in air), also known as c or the lightspeed. The graph friscko posted shows the spectrum of electromagnetic waves, including visible light. With all extremely short wavelengths, and extremely high frequencys.
Sound my friends is a totally different thing. It are pressure waves, So they need a medium to pass through. This could be water, air, solid,... but NOT vacuum. In air the speed of sound is 340m/s. So with a simple calculation a bass with a frequency of 100HZ has a wavelength of 3.4m, while electomagnetic waves are in the range of nanometers. (1/1.000.000.000 of a meter)

The valve soundsystem gives you a poundn' bass you can feel and i wonna generate it because there is slim to non information on the specs of valve ss. |
yea dude...no one knows shit about the valve system...i dont think really anyone does except for dillinja/lemon d and some other guys their associated with...
There is a website on here on how to make speackers...i forget the name of it...it was crazy tough...tells you perfect spects for making dope speakcers and subs...

i know they made a speaker gun!, it sends a very narrow blast through high powered speakers, like a gun, and it's at a freq that is really annoying, it's a form of non-leathal riot control or something. and it only blast the sound in a very narrow range. there are home speakers that do that so even if you're int eh same room you can't hear the sound that loud, but whoever is infront of the speakers cna hear it blare!

Nice explaination!
I know you were just using an estimate for v, but for those interested, the speed of sound is 345.45m/s (using v=331m/s + 0.59Tc and assuming room temp. of 25 degrees) and the Universal Wave Equation (frequency=speed/wavelength) shows that frequency (i.e. pitch) is directly related to speed and therefore temp. so the same oscillating body will appear to have a higher and higher pitch as the temp. increases and vice versa (so ultimate deep bass party should be held at sub zero temperatures?
).
The reason for this is that as temp. increases, the intermolecular collisions in air are intensified, so mechanical wave energy is transferred through the medium with greater efficiency (each particle is able to deliver its kinetic energy to adjacent particles more effectively since the average velocity of the particles in the medium is greater). bla, bla, bla (sorry, I'm teaching this tomorrow so a dry run through helps me sort these concepts out ahead of time).

Besides, frequencies below 30Hz are extremely dangerous to PA systems, so most of decent PA companies will filter those away at live mixing stage.
Dunno about you guys holding DnB parties though

I've read something about a gun like this tested by some police-unit somewhere, and it sends out a frequency which makes u shit ur pants, without being able to do anything against it

ever seen a big soundsystem capable of playing 33Hz?
Even Valve only goes to 40Hz

On the other hand, the rotary woofer has enough acoustic output to move a open door back and forth .5” between 1 and 5Hz! It has enough output to find resonance frequencies of walls and ceilings in a room |
but if that's true
imagine wathing a movie, and then the ceiling falls down becuase it's resonance frequence was played

The first line is funny. Ever wanted to know what 5hz sounds like. WTF I cant imagine that 5hz would sound like anything. Youd feel it though.
About the audio gun. It doesnt make you shit yourself, its a highly directional speaker horn which fires high pitch sound causing confusion, loss of balance, incapasitation, and lots of other horrible things.
As far as the dirls cuming from low freq goes. Id guess that any low freq could make a girl cum if she was sat on a sub. I dont see why its so unfeasable. People get of on MUCH weirder things than a bit of bass.

An amplifier that puts out anyting below 20Hz? No such thing on the market as far as I know. So the $12,900 would be useless.
