ma3stroh started producing and spinning in the summer of 2001. allong with his partner in crime, and the other eskalation member, Cougar. Cougar already started buying records, and i decided i wanted to give it a try.
when the UM started as a crew, we immediately joined in and that was a great impulse for me to get more serious to the production/spinning side of DnB. my production style is a bit of all flavours, techy, funky, rolling, amens, anything with a drive in it.
When not producing or sleeping i waste my time on moderating and administrating dnbforum.nl and utregmassive.nl.
Cougar
I started listening to DNB in the mid-nineteen’s. Before that I was already really busy with music. I’m not sure what tune triggered me, but the first time a heard DNB is was hooked. After that I found out there were a few parties down here in Utrecht, and started going there at the age of 15.. The DJs always attracted me and inspired me to be a DJ myself. So after a few mounts I bought myself 1 belt drive soundlab and borrowed a fuckt-up mixer. It was great fun mixing with 1 turntable and a MD-player ; ).
In the summer of 2001 I met up with Maistroh again, after knowing him for a few years. He told me he found a great music program, and hooked up a few days later. The first day we spend about 14 hours trying to make a DNB-track, that's the day Eskalation was born!
After that I bought another turntable and started buying more vinyl. Soon I was DJ-ing at small birthday parties, and other small gigs.
In that time we met Sage & Westrum, they where giving massive party's in the Vloer.
After a few months they gave us a chance to show our skills in Tivoli
Sicko [BE] [Payback]
I got in touch with the sound of drum'n'bass about 6 years ago when i heard Goldie perform in a packed "Vooruit"! An absolute mint set by the legend himself and i was completely hooked on the thrill and vibe of drum'n'bass! I soon started collecting various drum'n'bass tracks but as i started playing out more often i realised that i especially prefered the liquid or called it funky / mellow side of drum'n'bass. Later on i developed my style and skills and worked more towards my one and only motive "delivering what the crowd wants "! Today i'm mainly focusing on the partyvibe and trying to take the crowd on a journey ! Further down the line i'm also working on my own productions & projects! Currently i'm working on a rather atmospheric / chill out project which will include several trip hop tracks ! The main goal for this project is exploring different sounds within music , therefore i've chosen this experiment to finally come to a point where i can play out my own proper sound! Kenshee [BE] [Payback]
With a growing passion for music since he was little, kenshee travelled from rock to reggae, from hiphop to house to end up in the world of drum&bass.After buying his first decks & mixer at the age of 18 he started to rinse the heavy dnb sound and you could find him at parties every weekend, this is were he ran into sicko and after some talks and beers, they created the concept called payback. More & more liquid ended up in the bag and it was love at first hearing you can say, so his bag is filled with labels such as hospital, soul:r, signature, defunked, renegade recordings etc. but somewhere deep in the bag there's still place for his older renegade hardware, virus etc stuff, so expect the unexpected from this guy! So You ask, he does his best to deliver want the crowd wants. Nowadays together with sicko & mc eleven (payback crew) he's still travelling through the beautifull world of drum&bass with a future that shows this passion will never die.
