Hullo, fellow producers! Once again we are organizing a Q&A session, but this time we thought we can make a change and voila! We made the session with one of our own best producers! And who might that be if not Surya!
His audio page can be found at http://www.stripinfo.be/surya/ but it's kinda old, so it doesn't represent the latest achievements in his music productions. But nevertheless, those who followed Surya's tracks already know what power, complexity and itch lies within them. Surya is a darker, btw
Surya will answer any questions that you may post. But, to keep this organized , neat and clean, you have to follow the next regulations:
- Max two questions per user at the time (+ bonus 1 if you really need to ask it
)
- This is about producing, keep it about that
- He might not answer all questions asked, but he promises to try
- The session will run for a week. I'll notify when the session is over.
- No lamers are allowed.
There. Now we have set the rulez. Let's begin...

Nowhere
There is no latest stuff as I find no time to produce lately. The intent was to put it on my myspace, so maybe you'll find some new stuff there in the future

I didn't finish any tracks and I wanted them finished before I made them public. Got some nice stuff in the works though.

It got released, it got no promo whatsoever, it tanked... They said they'd release it in Germany to, I have no idea if that ever happened. This was last year in september...

Well, it kinda fell flat when the site was on the temp server, as there weren't enough tracks. Haven't got the time now to pick up the habbit again

They were intrested in our track and Dylan seemed to like it too, but the distro didn't want it coz we're unknown. They said they might be intrested if it was remixed by a more known producer...
I have some other shit in the works FSR was intrested in too, but it's still unfinished

No and no
I'd like to learn it, but I don't have the time or the equipment as we speak.
DJing is good for getting to know a lot of tracks, which micht help with producing, but there are many ways to get to know a lot of tracks...
In the end producing is more about knowing how to get the effects you want in your track, than knowing a lot of other tracks...

Well, mostly I take a drumloop I ripped of some other track, mostly other smashing stuff I really like. Sounds lame right
But then I layer about a dosen other snare and ghost samples over it, to make it sound different. I like metalic sounding snares and ghost snares need to be really punchy to give it a really good drive. Acually, most gosts I use sound really shit on their own, but work really well as a ghost...
When choosing samples, I try to listen to what I already have in the track and what could complement it to sound fuller and more agressive. Than I look for a snare that has that element I'm looking for. I might even filter out all other parts of that new sample just to get the specific sound of it I was looking for.
Hope that's a bit of a help...
