Ive been currently using Cubase Sx with just my old Soundblaster 5.1 card and normal monitors.
I think its now time to upgrade. If i was to buy an audiophile 24/96 soundcard and something like some Alesis monitor 1 active 520's.
Do i connect them to an amp? or by jacks to the soundcard?

you can get very small mixers... ones for only that purpose... trust me... these monitors are worth every penny...

for an in-expensive and smal mixer... get this or similar...

theres even a smaller one for only 30$ which would be even more economic and efficient for your situation...

Strongly recommended connecting via amplifier, and you need to know what resitence(in ohms) has the amp and what the monitors. if some is lower than the other...then you may expect BOOM in the equipment! It is much acceptable to use monitors which have 4 ohms via amp of 4-6 ohms...but check that again with some technician.

Mixer is also recommended. Bigup
