i wish i could remember the moment i first heard it, i recognised it obviously, but just referred to it as 'that generic old skool drum n bass break' until i realised that 'amen' wasnt just a random name. its now a staple in nearly all my tracks.
Its so versatile, turn it up loud and its brutal, but keep the volume low and the rolling feel of the break makes it perfect for laid back tracks as well.
The man was a genius and i think each of us should each make an amen loaded track in rememberance of him.

It's been speculated that he didnt think it would amount to much and refused royalties because he thought it would be a waste of time.
In theory we have to wait 80 years before its legal to use this break...
