I put a link to a preview for this a few weeks back. That was really just the backbone of the track. On this version I have layered additional kicks, snares, hats, pads and compressed the drums and bass, added several synth parts using the Papen Blue and the FSR Morphite (lots of fun and free with an old computer music mag). I tried to make it a punchy as possible - however, please let me know if you find it is too abrasive. All the drums (and horns) are snips of Buddy Rich drum solos/tracks I found on Drummerworld.com. Feedback welcome, but keep in mind that this is more of a high speed funk/jazz track rather than the usual dark dnb stuff.
liking the track a lot, seemes to be all mastered tightly and the build is wicked as well, this minds of A-sides stuff a lot. Not much in the way of constructive crit really - sounds all good really.
Gotta love Buddy Rich, that man is a God if you ask me. I like the vibe of this track, it has a kindof Crystal Method feel to it (i dunno if you'll find that to be a compliment but it is). The bongos/congas sound real sexy, the edits there are solid and together with the horns it fills out the atmosphere. Overall, I like the track a lot.

Thanks for the reviews. I'm a single man now and a hobbo with no internet so once I get settled and hooked up I'll be back around to return the comments. I give props to Equipped for the title. A wee ditty that goes "flipatee, flipatee flop, the sock's down at the dock". THought it captured the tone of this happy little number. I'll be back with some pure evil soon enough.
Nice creative use of 70s type samples. Has a bit of a Hoyt Curtin type sound, which is a really quite impressive. Almost a drum n bass johnny quest theme.
This could also be an alternate theme to The Venture Brothers or Stroker and Hoop or something like that! I suggest sending this to the cartoon network, seriously!!!
Back to the track: has a great combination of breakbeats and classic vibe.
Mix sounds great.
I don't care for the robot sample that comes in about 3:12, but it isnt that intrusive.
Is there a reason for that title?

right then weebee,...bout to start searchin for tunes to slap in the filthy mix for tomorrow's fly strip festivities,.. n thought id start with a fat listen n review on this ripper,....first off mixdown sound's solid,..havin a hard time spottin the new layered snare but i guess that's a good thing,..see you've brought the volume down on that vox sound,...much better imo,..its hardly in the tune anymore,...huge rippin edit's on your main robot bass and that papen blue sound,<-that fit's in the mix real nice btw,..yeah man this some crazy shit,...full on ripper of a tune,..man this is goin on the mix,..dyin to hear this shit in my car,...flippin fat tune Nosrac,...the title doesn't really work man,...was a good laugh and i appeciate it,..but i think it takes away from it a bit,....well come up with something new when were rippin it up,...tunes sick,...cheers n can't bloody wait to see the mighty->"Sacrafice" & "Misery Index"!!!!!!gonna be one hell of a shindig man,...weeee.

whoa weird. sounding pretty much live, I could swear that the drums are live.
I like how the glitchy bass goes with that big band horn. not that keen on the rest of the trumpets though, makes an impression of the track being torn in two, all the time theres a masive dnb track wanting to break out on it's own but the relentless drummer and trumpeter doesn't let it. interesting hybrid but I'd really much prefer a dnb AND a jazzy track on their own
anyway some great sequencing, the track flows seamlesly.
so FRESH! i haven't heard anything like this from you yet. the ride cymbal is a bit low. everything else glistens. the snare needs to be a bit brighter, that is just my tastes though. the drum rolls are sharp. good thing. great sound design all over this track. i would like to hear a rolling sub to help define where the drop is. i cannot get over how well all the sounds go well together. it's hard to pick on any one thing in this tune, the whole thing fits so well. great job!
WOW MAN! Awesome stuff... I've listened like 6 times now and I like it more with every play. There's not much room for commenting here. Would have liked more nasty bass stabs and dirty glitches maybe, but then again it might ruin the happy uplifting atmosphere you created here.

Thanks for all the input - ya I struggled with that vocoded synth part - when I eq'ed it to make it darker it changed the happy mood of the track and when I turned it down it was hard to pick out the morphing/filtering effect I worked so hard on
- I set out to make a slappy break/dnb tribute to one of my main jazz influences - I think I did that, but at the expense of making a track that everyone would like - just hope as producers you like the chopping - took the most time and when layered with single hits was a real chore to eq/mix and blend. I finally got my internet so I'll be kicking around a bit more now; trying to hit up new tracks with reviews - I've missed so much that it'd be tough to go back and find the gems from the summer - but if you got a solid track from the summer send me a pm link to it.
