is there certain notes or chords that create mood better? i know about major and minor chords but does it go further than this? is there any other tricks? Im mainly interested in deep sounding stuff, almost sad. the feelings from omni trio and early photek for example.

drones r a good way of creating a vibe.
also industrial sounding hits with a little reverb on a send and mixed low can create a darker/colder vibe. listen to earlier usual suspect tunes or some panacea to see what i mean.
and layer.
instead of just making a tune straight up try just designing sounds.

Try to play basslines on chromatc scale...
And try to play pads and strings on heavy dissonats maybe... it works for me Shocked
