It's been a long damn time since I've produced something for myself... all thoughts, criticisms and abuses are welcome. If anyone can come up with a good subgenre classification for this one, that would be groovy.

Intro is a little dull.

I don't care for your bass drum at all. Sounds like someone stomping a potato chip bag Tongue
and not in a good way.

I'd layer a more thump type BD, either a 909 or another electronic, very synthesized sounding hit to this.

Your snare is a bit flat as well. It could use a layer that has a more ringy sound, and also another full sounding flat snare.

Overall your sound and feel of the track is really cool though. I think if you made the drum hits a lot cleaner and stronger this could be a really intersting song.

Not sure how to categorize this tho, wish I could give you a sub genre like you wanted.

On an off note, read Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things; What Categories Reveal about the Mind by George Lakoff

Yeah, I guess I went a little crazy on the distorted/filtered drums. Roll Eyes It's an attempt at using nearly raw noise and lo=fi sound blasts in an artistic fashion. It sounds a little weird, but I was actually going for that sort of sound on the drums, it makes me nostalgic. (I used to be in an industrial band, I was going for that crunchy edge as an alternative to the annoying super-crisp electronic drums my software always produces) Thanks for the effective feedback, though, it always helps. Wink

And I'm guessing by your book recommendation that you're reading into the title, and know where it comes from... kudos for that! Totally unexpected. I'll check out your book.

Ps: What if it really +was+ someone stomping on a potato chip bag?
