Then maybe you should think about it again. If you don't have a passion and a feeling for music, and a little bit of technical interest I think you won't be a DJ for long.
If you do decide to start DJ'ing, get yourself a decent mixer, and DJ cd player, depending on the music you are playing the need for one or more turntables will come along as you go.
Most important thing is to have a large music collection, but I suppose you allready do since you ask this question.
Second most important thing: don't buy the very cheap gear. If it turns out that dj'ing isn't your thing after all, you'll be stuck with it because no one will want to buy it. If you buy quality gear it will be easy to sell it later, if you want to get rid of it or want to get something better.

here's what I did
I wanted to be a dj too so first bought some records and then started looking for decks, found out that technics was good but also quite expencive.... but I bought two of them second hand for a really decent price and then a mixer and there I went (ow jeah forgot about a headphone and boxes and an amplifier lolz)
and then the practice starts and it never ends

DUUUUDDDEEE!!!! You never buy turntables second hand unless from a friend. You have no idea if some idiot took it apart and fucked with the torque, or how they were with them. I hope you got em cheap! Like $350-$450 for the pair. But like djfree was saying its not like you just say one day I am gonna be a DJ, you get into the music then you fuck around with other peoples tables, then you say OK I love this music, and I am gonna do it. I would get urself some NuSkool break records, to start matching tunes, they are alot easier than DnB, an especially Jungle. Good Luck with it, and I hope you stick with it, because we need more DnB headz, we are a dying breed now adays
Especially here in FL, Florida Breaks have taken over the state
I am like an alien with my friends, because they all look techno breaks, and house, and I hate that shit. I digress......good luck with it

Simple reason why, they'll be much cheeper. |
not true, decent cd-decks (pioneer 800/1000, numark cdx) are a lot more expensive then decent vinyl-decks

First off.....I dont look at your sex when speaking to anyone. I am from Florida and that is how I talk even if it is to a girl. Second, I wasnt knocking the fact of you wanted to be a dj, but you should have some sort of background into techno music of some sort. Third, Drum and Bass/Jungle is probably one of the hardest genres to spin to were it sounds good. But whatever, more power to you, hope you stick with it!
