A good place to start!
for decks - if you're on a serious budget go for belt drives but I really wouldnt recommend it. You can get some great direct drive numarks brand new for a really good price. If you've got money go for technics 1210's, numark TTX1's or some high end vestax or stantons. For mixers - two channels is fine for starting out. just have a look on the net at the same brands as above there's shit loads about - just do some investigating, google searches its not hard. 
When you've got your set up buy some records put em on and practice.

Im gonna go against the flow and suggest you get some CD decks.
Simple reason why, they'll be much cheeper.
Think about it, you allready own loads of cd's (I guess) and buying enough records to do a full set is expencive.
Its also worth bareing in mind that you might get bored of it after a while. And you wouldve spent a lot of money on decks, mixer, and plates that your not gonna use.
Id ultimately suggest that you learn an instrument, and learn to write and produce your own music, Most people here know how I feel about DJs and I think there are too many of them.
I dont mean this as any offence to you. Its cool that you wanna get involved in the music that you love.
