Check out this new preview by Federalnoise in the listen page!!

This is a nice flowing darkstepper with very cool sounds and dense (&intense Big Grin ) drum programming. I think it's one that can make the crowd go wild when it's dropped at a party Bigup
I really like the drum programming, it really has some nice touches and breaks. The snare/clap sound with the gated reverb in the beginning is gorgeous Pleased I like the machinegun fast bits on the snares, kicks and floortoms a lot, adds greatly to the tension. Good use of the stereo field. There are a lot of different sounds used, making it very interesting, but still it flows like a mountain stream and it's very danceable, I feel like rushing out and party Big Grin

The mixing can use some more refining though... it's hard to hear the details because the low bitrate makes it sound really rough, but here are some ideas:
- the final compression needs to be redone, especially at the beginning the compression is really obvious, the first two kickdrum sounds (the short one in the beginning and the acoustic one at 0:21) sound too squashed and they jump out too much. In the rest of the track the final compression affects the high end a lot, you can hear a lot of pumping in the hihats every time the kick is played...
- the guitar sound is cool and groovy but it's too upfront, mix it more in the background and blend it in more with carefully chosen reverb
- the high end in the drums is way too harsh, but that's probably due to the 64kbps encoding...
- the two basses and lead sounds get in eachother's way when the music becomes intenser. You need to EQ a lot here to bring out the essences of each sound and make room for the other sounds. But then again, this adds to the energy of the track, there's a lot going on Big Grin

Overall it's a great preview, can't wait to hear the finished version!!

Aye, it's a mad one alright... The thing is, it does sound total crap at 64kbps... But this is a safety feature of mine, pointless giving away your diamonds u kno... However, I'f you'd like to hear the .wav i'll glady show you the EQ. There's many ways to EQ a track, but this one just a stomp blaster Big Grin

I think i'll tone a lot down in the final, it is a rather hot mix, so long as the energy is retained, i'm not too fussed. A thing i've come to learn is that final mixes can be a very deceptive process. But like i say, I always set a timespan of 1month when writing any track and usually, they do take this lenght of time... Not because i suk, I just put hellheaps into the production. Right about the kicks bulging, i love that, i hate generically sterile trax, lol. Thx man, I'll keep all that knowledge in mind.

Big sound! Wickid track!
Needs some work on the EQ, compression and levels side tho.
Love the screeching sound!
Bring the drums a bit more up front.
