Encypher - Swallow Your Soul is a nice old skool sounding drum n bass track, the techno intro gel’s in well with movie sample and the breaks kick in well too with a warped sounded bass line.

The movie samples are cool and are used effectively (I know the movie but I won’t announce it) the creepy laugh sounds are nice near the end of the track.

It’s all well structured simple beats along with bass with the techno sounds coming in once and an awhile and various distorted sounds making their presence into the beats.

Overall it’s a nice refreshing change to hear some dnb with old skool beat sounds and keeping it simple nice track Encypher.

some really nice elements in this, some of it just needs to be tweaked a abit.
the vocals are pretty cool, i dunno where their from.
the drums do sound a bit old skool, you could probably layer some drums over the top.
the basslines are pretty cool, dunno if i like the acid line that much, not a big fan of acid lines.
there are some nice edits and effects used.
the first synth in the intro sounds a bit meh, but then it gets better.
the drop comes pretty quickly, you could probably have an intro, but yeah other then its sounding pretty cool, just needs a bit of EQ work.

not too keen on such blatant amen use. the basses are somewhat casioish and could use phattening up as in layering, effecting.

otherwise, others this got spot on, good elements, not liking the acid line.. some structural tweaks here n' there

creepy

Those amens need some processing! They sound a bit flat to me. A wee bit of distortion and some EQ would do them some good. No offense, but the amens also sound like they are taken right off sample cd. I'd recommend doing 'something' to them to make them your own. Maybe add some layers of your own BDs and SDs to add variety, or even in some parts, maybe in the intro, replace the hits entirely with your own. The Gremlinz & Friske track "shattered" does this real well. It's also a track that uses very 'standard' amens but in a new and interesting way.

This may seem odd, as it's the title of your track, but the Swallow your soul sample doesn't seem to fit the vibe of your track. I don't know if the other vocal samples are working either, but that may just be me Tongue I like the ravey old school feel of the track, it's got bizzy B ish vibe.

I like when that pad come in about 3/4s of the way through, but I think the pad needs to stay a bit longer... seems to cut off too fast. let it finish please Happy , it catches my interest but too quickly goes back to what it was doing before.

The overall mix sounds a bit muddy as well.

Keep at it, I think this is going in the right direction.

Was unsure of the synth on intro but it does work quite well, Hehe can hear the samplin but nice work. The second old skool sounding track ive heard on here to do, main sub reminds me of supersharp shooter. On the intro i was expecting something more dark n sinister but this works fairly well never the less.

Overall: Build up on intro could have lasted a bit longer to create a bit more depth n atmosphere, Second drop is kind of messy. Good use of breaks, great cutting skills. Keep it up.

Regards

Actually i wrote these amens using the sounds from the origanal and very boring amen loop so should i take that as a compliment?

OK Is it just me or did Ray Keith do this same track almost. Alteast the amen and basssline for sure in the beginning. I have heard that exact duo together in the beginning somewhere. Not sure about the distorted bass and amen, but they definetly dont go together with the intro amen and bass. The prodigy like synth needs to go. Not much to say because I am gonna rack my brain about the main break in the beginning. It sounds so familiar.
