#1 layer your breaks... usually one kick will have a nice click to it, and the other is the punch

1st kick usually drop the low end at 90hz about 2-3 db... and boost it at around 1-5khz for a nice click... (just depends on the sample and what you want it to sound like)

the second kick, again you dont want too much low end so drop the low end again and boost at around 120-150hz for some nice solid punch...

snares, same basic idea... for some fullness, add to the 400-500hz area and add the nice sparkle 1-5khz..

hats... same... but hats arent too much of an issue most of the time...

also depending on what sequencer you use, a bit of overdrive is good, and some pre-compression...

meaning... compress a break, render the loop, and then use the break again... does wonders...

those are some basics... getting a real good sound around that all depends on whats in teh song and how you eq things around the breaks or vise versa... goodluck..
