If the line-up would represent a family, Target would be the father – may be a funny thing to put forward but there’s some sense to it. For about 10 years Target has been DJ-ing, releasing (both solo and with others) and producing for Roll Deep, the crew around Wiley. Together with Danny Weed (also Roll Deep) he owns the imprint Aim High, and released some of the most essential grime compilations so far. Target knows the game and it needs no argument he’s the excellent headliner to bring us a state-of-the-art selection of today’s grime scene.

JME
After being involved with Meridian, a crew from North London and joining Roll Deep after a call from Wiley, he’s now doing his very own thing with Boy Better Know. that’s JME. A busy man, 28 years old, in the bloom of a young career. His recent debut solo mixtape Boy Better Know was played at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra countless times and is already one of 2006’s highlights. Boy Better Know is the threesome of JME, Skepta and Tinchy Stryder.Apart from that, JME’s involved in the Tropical-project with Skepta and currently touring with the ‘Big Live-O’, a live showcase with the three mc’s, dj Cameo (BBC) and an orchestra.

DJ Chef
The south of London (and particularly Croydon) has bred some lucid production talent responsible for the the newest and hyper genre-shift currently and for about the latter three years : dubstep. Think of Skream, Benga, DMZ-crew, Forward, and also Alphman and DJ Chef that are lined-up tonight, all reppin London under the river. Chef is 21 years old and has backgrounds in house, garage and drum and bass since he was 13, had shows on quite some pirate radio’s and plays at Rinse FM since 2004. Also, and much addig to his reputation, he played several times (b2b Skream and Benga) at DMZ, the hottest dubstep night currently in London Brixton.

Alphman
Alphman is one of the younger breed, London South again. Having dropped two demo’s and numerous shows, he recorded his first video “Champion” in April 2006. His style is versatile, having mc’d over drum and bass and garage since he was 14. having been entwined in underground scenes through his bro’s Benga (one of the hottest nowadays producers, see BBC again) and his link to the infamous Big Apple Records, this MC brings a positive message with a magnetic mic presence. Beware !

Always on the edge exploring the newest cuts, dj Mate is one of the few dj’s pushing forward the dubstep sound Belgium can be proud of. Having many years and a reputation in ragga and related genres behind him, he’s now on the dubstep tip like no other! Reppin the Warriorz crew (promoting drum and bass and recently dubstep) and After12, UK oriented show on Urgent FM, Mate is the perfect graveyard dj of the night, getting you walking home on bass.

Well what to say? If anyone from Ghent can tell a hip hop story nationwide, it must be Lefto. Working together with the likes of Gus and Krewcial, co-managing Belgium’s number one independent hip hop label B9000 and educating the country through De Hop on Studio Brussel, is just a brief overview of what the guy’s busy with. He was invited for a compilation on Blue Note and next to promoting parties and concerts on his own and in collab with others, Lefto also programs the hip hop stage for the Dour Festival.

Grimelock
Grimelock is a grime-dubstep dj duo from Brussels, but having their roots way beyond. Kabila and Marsellus have a weekly show on radio Boups and are scheduled on Dour festival later this summer. Grimelock team performed in Ghent last spring (at Warriorz), so you know you can expect a fresh mix of today’s highlights and classics from the streets of UK.

Mellow P
Mellow P is host of the 9000 Sessies that rocks Ghent since last year. Every installment so far had a huge atmosphere and brought forth e selection of Flanders young spirited post-Hof van Commerce generation MC’s. Mellow P mostly emcees in Dutch himself and so far is best well known with his crew De Vlaamse Primitieven, which has seen many a stage in Flanders in latter years. He released the compilation ‘Steekproef’ in 2005 and brings young MC Sven Dawg who featured on Steekproef and battled at 9000 Sessions as well.

Esk-L
Esk-L (also Chef), opener of BIEFSTUK!, is a young dj from Ghent involved in Uberdope, a new Ghent-based project focussing on own production and Dutch rhyming. He’s got regular sets at Quartier, the town new hip hop haven and is resident DJ at 9000 Sessions.
