i'm brand new this forum and you guys look really helpful. i've been looking around a handful of forum sites to find an answer to this...
you know the somewhat faded crashes you hear in the background of a drumbeat...
how do i blend and sequence that to make it sound pro and not like some blaring crash or something way too soft?
for some reason i have serious issues with this...
i can't think of any specific examples atm but there's a lot out there... i hear it a lot with evol intent, counterstrike, raiden etc... it's really common
i'm from west US and i'm 17. i'm using fls5...and have been experimental producing for about 9 months
thanks in advance
keep it real

You mean, like Amen/Tramen/Firefight crashes? That asks advanced sequencing, if you can upload an example I will try to recreate it and show you how.

Evol Intent - Corrupt Cops (VIP Remix)
ok you can hear it here starting around :50
it's kind of a harsh crash sound but low volume in the background...i can't get it to sound that way. i just don't know if i have to sidechain or lfo or use multiple crashes...something...
and to tell you the truth i don't really know much about amen, tramen, or firefight...except amen is a funk song by the Winstons (i think...) i just started listening to dnb about a year ago, skipped funk and old school and went stright into crazy dark dnb

as if you don't know the tune.. right
on the subject - everyone of us at some point must have tried recreating the tramen sound.. and gave up
like trying to do the exact detail of a Salvador Dali masterpiece.. there's no point really. if you don't make it quite like it, it won't make the same effect. and ironically if you somehow manage to craft it sound the same, everyone will say "ah it's the tramen"
the point I'm trying to make is you're better off using that loop and cutting only the first kick+crash with a wave editor. nothing wrong with that. try searching the internet for "tramen sample", the damn thing is royalty free now

Yeah, you'll have to go with some amen samples since what you're talking about isn't acually crashes, but the high end of the amen break.
