was listening to the radio 1 fabio & grooverider show at work lastnight
it was rider's week an was a tight show- wicked tunes dropped throughout
heard a bit of taxman's- 'too bad'- gotta get a copy of that tune now..
also realised whilst listening to the show that my taste in dnb has an oldskool vibe coz some of these tunes with very hectic pendulum rippoff riffs (and im talkin vst choice not structure) are jus not my cup of tea no more and get tiresome after a few bars..
the only example i can think of at the moment is the synths used in sub focus's tune x-ray
jus too soft soundin for dnb imo
much prefer the melodies that are created out of odd soundin bassses and synths instead of that ravey type reece that shoots all over the place.
if i wanna get messy i'll slap on some noisia or prolix etc
all for diversity within the scene etc coz i been into it since '96 but i deff prefer the tunes with more depth.. even if that means diggin a well crafted liquid tune every now and then
peace

Yeah, Anthem DnB sucks. It did even before it existed. Blah!

my point of view:
-synths are great to fill out the frequenty spectrum (imo)
-good (hardtech-) synth pierces into your ears (at least thats its function imo)
-i hate the synth of X-ray
-i hate all the synths of the Hold your colour lp from pendulum even more
-i hate mellow melodies that is suposed to make people happy , but on me it has a negative effect (bah)
-i love simple and raw melodies (Limewax for ex , also some techstep melodies)
-i love the warmth of compressed and polished subs like groove n pendulum (only the subs not the bass)
by the way whats anthem dnb surya ? i heard you saying the exact sentence one year ago .

Did I? Well, Anthem Trance is trance built around some clear, catchy synth melody that gets repeated over and over. Take that kind of structure and apply it to DnB and you get stuff like X-Ray. I feared for this style coming into existed long before it did.
