i need a bit of help with fl studio 4. when i'm writing my bassline i need to know if it is possible to change the note of the sound without changing the speed, might seem like a stupid question but its really pissing me off.

How do you mean, without changing the speed? Of what speed are you talking about?

what i'm trying to say is when i'm writing a bass line, the higher notes sound shit and the lower ok. the lower notes last longer than the higher, there must be a way of making the duration of the higher notes the same as the lower ones.

find what part of the sample u can loop, without it being obvious it's looped.
then u can either
1) cut that part using an wav editor
2) put loop point on it and play in with the loop points

To put automatic FL loop points, use that knob that says: CFL in the channel settings of the file - that sets up automatic loop points. Tweak it a bit so the bassline can sound not like a shit Big Grin

I guess that there is some modulation on the sound that you're using, and LFO on the pitch or the filter cutoff or something. What you can try is using the granulizer. This basically allows you to alter the pitch of something without altering its duration. You need to set the length of the sampl in the sample editing window and then you'll be able to change the pitch without adjusting the speed.

To be honest though, this will only be happening if you're using a sample. Youre far better off using a synth and making your own sounds. They might not sound as good first attempt, but the more you do it, the better you'll get, and you dont want to rely on sampling other people your whole life.

i dont sample other people. i take a one hit sound and change it completely. i rarely use any beats other than ones i have made from scratch and i have no problem creting unique soundz. my question was on sequencing.
