Back to the old skool sojo!!

INFO::

WONTIME (riot squad, scorpio):

Wontime was one of the first belgian drum & bass djs. He started spinning in the early nineties and learned the basics of mixing through months of nightly practice on the decks of the infamous local radiostation Scorpio 106fm, where to this day he still hosts a weekly two hour show. He got hooked to the raw energy of jungle back in 1994, and over the years he has gained a massive reputation for setting dancefloors on fire and for throwing numerous parties. His mixing style is fast and tight, easily mixing over thirty anthems in one hour and incorporating all styles within the genre. He is generally seen as one of the most skilled and consistent djs in the country and accordingly he got elected best belgian d&b dj 2003 on www.partyguide.be. He has been all over Belgium, spinning at countless events including all big festivals, nightclubs and parties and he was invited in Holland, France and Spain on different events.

SPEEDWAGON B2B I-WITNESS (nightscapes - distraxion):

My first real drum'n'bass party was Logical Progresion with Drum'n'Bass at den hemel (zichem) together with Resonance (who stopped playin now), Woodrow and Wontime. They liked it there and decided I could come back (so I became resident dj there alongside Resonance). In the summerholidays of the year 2002 we (the guys that used to hang out at FCB) threw another episode of Nightscapes, and I must say we did a very good job, 400 partypeople who all had a great time in the forest (the rest you can read on the Nightscapeswebsite).
Nowadays my style is slightly different from the things I was playing before. I used to play hard 'n' dark but the music has developped so much, new subgenres are born. The new skool jump up sound (releases on Full Cycle, Formation, Ganja, Bingo, CIA... are responsible for these fat tunes) is the style I combine with other styles as liquid, dubby stuff, reggea driven rollers, some techstep& which works out great, always mixing it up at top speed.

I started buying vinyl in 2001. But at that point, I already listened drum&bass for four years and i focused on that genre from the beginning. My first full cds in that genre that i heard were from Roni Size, Grooverider, Adam f and Todd Terry. Nevertheless , it were the rougher subgenres (like the armageddon album on renegade hardware) that pushed me to get spinning myself.In 2002 i bought my decks and went very regurarly to the BamBam store in Antwerp to be up to date. Here my real obsession began and AMBUSH was born... I co-organized some parties in Glabbeek (Bunker : Drum in the basement) and Leuven (Rumba : Wasted) in 2003 and also spinned there myself. In the same year i won a dj-contest in Aartselaar. Getting in touch with more d&b-freaks in Leuven and on the internet i played on some small parties (Assault, Konektionz) in 2004. With a friend i started DISTRAXION to do our own parties in Leuven. Our purpose is to make a variated line-up (with different styles of d&b) and combining new talent with well known djs. Since 2005, Sicko (Payback Crew) and myself are planning to organise monthly free parties in Gent. The first edition of the D-FENCE parties will take place in september and it will continue every last tuesday of the month For some years now i'm dreaming of producing myself. That's why i changed my name into I-WITNESS (there is already a producer called ambush) but dind't find the time to make my own tunes till now. I even haven't got a clue what style it will be cause i listen/spin both soft and hard d&b, although at parties i prefer dark and hard tunes... the only thing i know is that my obsession has been growing since i discovered d&b and that won't stop in the near future!
