I was gonna put this in the production section, but thought maybe some people may not see this as being very relevant.
Does anyone else find that they go through phases of writing good tunes? I find that i can do a few good tunes, and then for a while i only come up with shit! Why do you reckon that is?
Maybe it's cause i'm quite crap!
P.S. going through one of those phases at the mo.

I'm unable to produce anything for months sometimes. Really sucks. Best thing is to do some other things then, until you feel ready for it again.

sometimes yes... especially when it comes to writing lyrics. And i'm not talking about lyrics for electronic music. I'm shit when it comes to that, having a writersblock after 3 lines
Since i'm not realy a producer of electronic music (got 1 tune finished and it isn't even a dnb-tune
) it's hard to find a good sample. always scrolling down those list and downloading and so on.
When your in search of a good tune ya got to have patience. keep on searching till ya find something. Or go for a walk and clear ya mind
. Best way to write song in my case is to stay sober

My best tunes always start out as a simple experiment to get a sertain sound or anything, and then the rest just unfolds around it, all by itself

yeah, i find that my best tunes just come togethter without any thought or work. Likei'll just drop down some 16th notes, and it'lll be a sweet beat. Then just do that some more, add it to the song and it sounds sweet.

I mostly come up with a sound, or theme (and choose the right sound for the theme) and build the track around that. I mostly know then what I want the rest to sound like

Think i am comming out a block at the mo. It's a slow and painful process!
I don't think i can really get the sound that i have in my head yet. I tend to listen to different samples and then i get an idea of a bass riff or something. But quite often i write a beat and then think what kind of bass would go with it and shit. Hopefully eventually i'll be able to create a tune in my head and make it happen in the sequencer!
