Check this shop for a nice selection of cheap condenser mics.

Im doing a degree in sound engineering and i use the SHURE SM-57, its recommended as an all round instrument mic, but it still gives a nice crisp vocal sound. You can even rig it to a kick drum, its a sterdy motherfucker, and not too pricey.

Should check it

The SM57 is not a condenser mic.

It is sturdy and cheap yes, but it also sounds crap. I wouldn't recommend it for recording anything, especially not a delicate sound like the lighting of a match.

I personally use the MXL-990 ($69). It is a shock-mount, condensor, and phantom powered. Now you will need to buy a Phantom power supply to power this sucker. The power supply unit runs about $49, make sure you get the right voltage for the mic.

The phantom power supply box I have is a ARTccessories Phantom III 48 Volt. Purchased a mic stand for $19 and two XRL cables which ran about $25. This mic despite some of the reviews it gets is definitely worth the money. Crystal clear recording, great for voice and recording drum work. Now if you are using it for singing check into another mic, for home digital recording, it is your mic. Integrates nicely with the Audigy eX soundcard. Below is the link to check out the mic.

EDIT: The mic picks up alot of background ambience, so make sure you use it a sound-proof environment or near sound proof.
