Hi
I have cubase SX3, i have loads of old breaks from the 70, 80s. I have managed to get loops out of these however, i set my sequncer to 170bpm.
The loops all play at the normal speed which varies from 60 to 90 bpm , how do i determine the bpm of a loop, also how do i get loops to fit perfectly in bar ie 1 bar and two Bars.
At the moment i have been using recycle and using trial and error in cubase sx 3 timestrech facilty, am i right in saying some loops are impossible to fit exactly to the desired number of bars.
The time streching stuff is all new to me, i normally create my tracks manually, or chop the loops up in recycle and import using midi to trigger the individual slices.
Can anyone shed any light in this subject, especially the time stretch facility in cubase sx 3, as id like to start start using breaks in my tracks from old records.
Any advice is apreciated.
Regards
MJ

with Cu-base you can timestretch two way's,..you can do it under Auidio option's,..wich is perty shitty,..and slow,..or go to your arrow option's at top,..change arrow into timestretch tool and starrt stretchin,..this way you can do it manually for more controll,..some times the sound deteriorates,..not shure why it does it on some break's and not other's,..fucked up shit but anyway that me 10 cent shananagin.

you say you use recycle, what i do and dont ask me how it works it just does, might be a long way around things, and i dont know if any of it is correct
, but,
i import the break into recycle, try to set beats and bar settings to get closest to the bpm i require, i then press slice button (the small clock thing), and manually adjust the bpm to what i require, then i lock the slices, go to process, and select transmit as one sample, then go to file, export.
once i have this exported wav i open acid pro set my bpm to what ever and import the file and draw a couple of bars, i then export the loop again and then import this loop into cubase, at which time i usually find it fits perfect and within the bars, i somtimes just give a little timestretch now to the loop just to tighten it up. now this could be totally wrong, but its how ive found i can get this to work, its my way, maybee its why a project takes me forever
, but i imagine others will know a quicker and better way, and i for one would be interestred to hear, it would help me too.
good luck
