I remember seeing Sqaurepusher live, and at some points he'd break everything down to breakbeat madness. Just drills and blasts all over the place, no beat at all. It was so funny because he was just stood behind his laptop smiling away while half the crowd where still "dancing" to these imaginary beats. I was laughing my ass off.
