sup. walking into the crypt as i type...

first listen:

major sweep action going on. great vox. little distortion on the sub hits during the builds. hehe nice vox leading into the drop. i like the feel of this one. great change up at 2:12. i like the amen snips. good way to fill out the beat. im not sure if the cymbals are naturally distorted or if the bass is doing it. it gets a little old after a few minutes Tongue some major distortion going on in the outro though. i like this track. it is stuck in its groove, but the energy carries it well. the sound quality is the only issue. im using 7.1 surround sound with a sub turned all the way down and still im getting heavy distortion/clipping.

second listen:

good beat, and varation. i like the sweeps too. the synth stabs that echo the sub kicks could stand for a little variance. you do variate them during the outro, which is cool, but why make us wait? ( Big Grin ) ya man, the amen snips with the beat that ring in around 2:55 is tight. this whole sequence leading to the breakdown is nice. sure, there is still a little distortion/clipping, but it is easy to overlook. ah, here we are at the outro. major clipping/distortion. its murdering some sick fills you have in here.

overall:

good track. solid upbeat energy gets ya moving and good sequencing. its just that dam clipping that gets me. with a little more control of the sounds this is easily 4/5 stars. keep at it.

peace

Turnstyles

Nice one mate for your feedback, some really good points for me to take into account. Appart from a few minor changes, I guess I just need to master this track better.
I always seem to have the master-level pushing above 0db because of all the distortion I use on my drums & stuff. I just try to limit the signal at the end of the mix so its not clipping. But yeah Ive alwyas had a little trouble with fitting the sub bass & kicks in with the cymbals, I think its the cymbals that r distorting ever so slightly. I run all my tracks through a multiband eq and Im often tweaking them, like you do. I guess I just need to tweak all my drums a little more maybe.
Im using a PC - cubase, wavelab soundforge & a whole range of softsynths & effects. This track is heavily compressed as im sure you figured, I use steinbergs multiband compressor which I find is good. Ive been using an MG compressor the master signal because it has a built in limiter. My track doesnt seem to get on well with other limiters, it seems to make them sound horribly distorted & bad quality when I plug one into the master.(The Voxengo limiter for example.)
I checked out the track your working on, loving the crazy chime sample, works well for the intro. It will be a great intro for a track when you finish it, lovin the bass, just need to hear the drop now!!

Cheers mate

Let me know a bit about yourself, what equipment you use, how long youve been producing etc..

im about as low-tech as they come Happy ive been producing a little over 7 years, but i am self taught, so it has only been in the last few years that i finally have a clue about sequencing. i started out making downbeats and ambiance, then worked up to dnb in 2003 when i was at a party and saw bad company uk. terrible dj's, but wonderful producers.

i use a 303 groovebox, guitar fx peddles (distortion, delay and reverb) and my soundcard's built in wave editor to make all of my sounds. i run those sounds through a tracking mod to get everything sequenced together and add extra fx. then i run it all back to the wave editor and covert it to mp3. very simple, straightforward approach. i spend all my money on records and my son, so i cant afford better software. i compensate by making all my sounds fit into the appropriate frequencies so that i can maximize my equipement's lower potential. this is also why i am no stranger to distortion lol.

the bass in 'hard' is going to change. in that preview, its an 808 low-tom that i looped at just the right point Roll Eyes i just used it to map out the notes. im working on a mono bassline with a low end/dirty synth behind it for the main bass, then plan to use that reece (and a few variations of it) for fills and transitions. im giving myself a week or two to finish the toon.

i liked your track. the sound is quality and that beat is fun to play with. keep the toons rollin in.

peace.

edit because i forogt how to spell

will take this home and listen properly and tell ya what i think tomor.
sounds pritty cool even down low on these shitty work speakers.
not sure about the evil noise, me being me, I would put more effects on it.
Thats about as far as I can go at the moment.

ok finally got to listen. sorry bout the delay.

i would put some reverb on that male vocal. cool sample tho

you need some more kiks in there too.

you need to get the main snare flowing more too,
the edits of it are cool, but too often.

the way the track flows at 2.54 is really cool, make it more like that.

needs a hard bass line too.

sounds like you have put a bit of work into this,

good stuff
