Hi, good to see you on the site!

If you had to give one piece of advice to aspiring drum & bass producers when writing tracks - what would it be?

This post has been edited 1 time(s), it was last edited by Yawn: 14-02-2006 20:00.

well i never used access virus before.. i still have a roland one that i used, but nowadays id rather just take a sinewave and make a new one out of it.

No, cant get the right sound from there.

So you do everything sample based, like Noisia (and like me Smile )?

yeah most of the time.

and the synth used in Ritual Station, is that a sample? If so, it's one hell of a wicked sample

its a sample.

Dont listen to many advice regarding what hard/software is good/bad.. keep training your ears with the tool where youre good at.

Do you have a classical training as a musician? How old did you start being interested in music? What made you switch to producing? Is there any musical landmark that sums is all up for you?

Could you tell us what you mainly use soundforge, acid pro and reason for?

my guess:

reason: lay out of song structure/sequencing
soundforge: processing samples to use em later on in reason/acid and for final eq'ing and/or pre-mastering
What do you mainly use acid 5 for?
Is there any sort of order involved when making a track?

Do you use sound analyzers and if so how do you go about using them i.e. do you make sure each element of the track has a totally distinct frequency range or can the overlap be quite liberal?

Also, claify exactly what you mean by "sample based" are you or someone like Noisia creating their own samples with synths or are you manipulating (eqing, distorting, stretch/pitching) other peoples samples -and if so where are you getting such insane sounds to start with? (is it taboo to sample directly from other DnB tracks for example). Cheers DJ

Any tips on making your own firefights? I have trouble making them sound fresher than the oldskool firefights like the one Dom made...

wtf to the above.. sorry

The question was regarding your views on a few harder producers making a switch to the liquid side of things... Take the new Baron tune for instance: At The Drivein (Also it's slightly dodgy b-side is fairly light-headed) Are you tempted as it's usually the musically trained that make this switch.

Cheers...
