Sorry dude, but did you really expect anything less?
I dont think anyone is trying to "enlighten the world" about what is or isnt good. I was simply trying to put my opinions across. I wasnt making sweeping statements like "Its a big pile of hairy shite" I was saying "I THINK its a big pile of hairy shite". If you like it then good for you, thats your thing, its not mine. Its a well known fact that any musician has very strong opinions of what they do and do not like. You shouldn't expect people to hold the punches when asked what they think of a particular type of music. I couldnt give a fuck what people think of the music I listen too. As I mentioned previously, all the people where I work listen to RnB and think that what I listen to is horrible. The feeling is mutual and thats the end of that. We get along just fine. Anyway, sorry if my opinions where a bit blunt, I was asked what I thought and thats what I wrote.

It came from a couple of DnB producers (cant remember who) who were trying to move away from the normal scene of dirty pill'eads and crack'eads by putting intelligent drum n bass on there flyers instead. The term got applied to the more experimental stuff, aphex being an easy example. Although he himself hates the term, he thought it suggests that every other type of dance music is stupid, gotta agree. No one who makes IDM calls it IDM, just people who dont really get it. |

Hip Hop for me is about having fun and a cool attitude, but all this fucking gangsta rap bollocks that seems to be about at the moment is dull as hell. Theres only so many times you can listen to someone rapping about how many girls they fuck, and how much weed they smoke before it gets a bit old. Gimme J davis or Pharcyde any day. There is one thing that pisses me off more though. its RnB. I thought that RnB stood for rythm and blues but apparently I was wrong. Because all the stuff about at the moment which is marketed as RnB is more about how much "bling" youve got, and how many cars you drive. I can't really see how anybody could feel blue about that. Rap n Bullshit more like. Its one type of music which more than warrents a sub clasification. ATM its marring the quality and tradition of real RnB music. |

Went to a house party on saturday and a good mate of mine was spinning some grime - he's been doing some digging and has found some of the most serious dark nasty & almost industrial tunes Ive ever heard!
I think with any genre of music - you have the good and you have the bad and the dark and the light. Compare clipz and limewax for example, same genre but completely different.
Vex'd the only artist I can remember right now coz I was wasted but i'll hit him up for some more names.

Vex'd have been around for quite a while. I got their album of planet-mu and its really good. I'd say more Dub-step than grime, but I guess it depends on how exactly you define the 2. Theres loads of this kinda stuff floating around London ATM, Brighton too. I've got a mate who DJ's this kinda stuff at the nights me and some mates have been organising. It works well with what we're doing but I get a bit bored after an hour set. Dub-step is unbelievably easy to mix though. If anyone is wanting to learn to mix, buy some dubstep records and you'll have it in about 30 mins!

"G R I M E - I S - S H I T E"
the name says it all, I used to like it but I got bored after a while. I suppose I just grew up.
