I really like both versions of this song. The song progression is nice, and the breaks, basses and melodies are good. I particularly like the part in the middle when the break gets very interesting. The buildup towards the last part is also very well done.

Original -vs- Remake:
* The original sounds a bit better I think, the low end in the remake is pushed so hard that it is distorted, and the original sounds much cleaner in comparison, but it is still a bit bass heavy.
* Adding the congas in the remake is a nice touch! I think this can be enhanced by waiting a bit before introducing the congas. Now the congas start together with the bass, maybe wait 4 or 8 bars...
* The stabbing rave chords in the remake are not so nice I think, makes it sound a bit cheapish. Just leave them out, the staccato mid sound of the original is enough (in the remake it's still there but it is more in the background).
* The middle part is better in the remake, the soundfx really add to the atmosphere and making the bass less loud is a good thing. Certainly keep the sfx and vocal samples, they're great!!
* The last part is much better in the remake, in the original it is just a reprise of the first part, but in the remake it has many new elements, which makes it less boring. Also the drums sound much better in the remake. In the original the dreamy pad sound is not needed, better leave it out... In the remake the pad is so overwhelmed by the lead that it just seems to fatten it up a bit, that's ok.

Mix:
Original: In the first part take the snare a tiny bit lower in volume, it seems to jump out a bit. The staccato mid sound might be a bit louder. More general compression on the entire mix.

The remake needs to be remixed because the distorted bass end really fucks up the sound. The rave stabs are too loud and don't fit in the rest (leave them out plz Big Grin )
Vocal sample 'Two words' is too loud in the middle (or the music is too soft, depends how you look at it Tongue ). Also the lead synth (the one with the heavy flanging) needs a bit of EQ to make it blend in with the rest, it sort of lies on top now.

In general it's a very nice track, and it would work in a DJ set too I think. Can you tell some more about how you made it?
