Please check out my new track 'India' and post your comments here!!!
This is my 2nd or third tune. (that I've actually 'completed') I didn't work as hard on this one as I did the last one. It actually began with me writing it as a joke/bootleg. (nevermind) I hope you like it! thx

ok lets see what goes on in here
cool flanged cymbals for an intro. ooh but you left it on the whole beat. IMO it only distracts and although it may sound well such as on that delayed snare you shold drop it when the real beat pumps.
the snare btw has a reggae feel to it, can't see the connection with india but who cares, right?
atmos prior to the 3:16 are barely hearable, turn em up!
the reecey bass which you introduce doesn't fit that well IMO, sounding too digital as opposed to the organic feel that the vocal samples created. the melody is not bad
ok you got flanging all over.. I say drop it and maybe use it as an effect at certain points in the track
not bad at all for a second track. some prime ideas for sure in here

thx for ure review.... u meant stop using the cymbals when the main beat kick in? the intro snare sounds like a raggae snare or the harder snare before the drop? hmmmm.... i thot this one was way better than my first, i still need to learn to chop up my breaks and 'quantize' drums.... i know i need lotsa work, only been at it like 4 months now... thx for takin the time to download-listen and review. ill work on it!

I meant stop using the flanger / phaser or whatever effect you put on the beats and almost everything. is it on the master channel? what effect is it?

I was thinking the ones at 1:33

no I thought drums are fine xcept for that damn flanger. and theyre amens right? didn't comment anything because I'm not too fond of using them, if they are used IMO they have to be done in an unique way for me to like 'em. so it's a matter of personal preference, you can freely ignore it.

dude
back that vocal up with sumfin
sounds very empty but different which is alwayz a good thing..
breakz over power everything, is that the intention
cynik's right there is flanger all over everthng, even the beatz !!!
need to use it more sparingly or add it at the very end mixdown
the tune isnt really rollin man, lots of ideas floating round but not great imo...
cheers

thx for your reply, i dont have any idea why there is flanger..... seriously. i listened to only the drum break, and it has a lil flanger on it too. and the effects channel is empty! i dunno. the vocal was menat to sound hollow and sorrowful. and yeah, i was told by others the drums were waaaay to strong. didnt notice til now. fixed that. (i wanted the drums to dropkick you in the face, but yeah, thats too much. so whats not runnin' about my tune? Its way better than my previous attempts. lol
anyway, thx for the review, ill keep at it! oh btw, ive since fixed a few things, so its a bit better now.
thx again,
B

first listen:
from a dj standpoint, this is a very mixable intro. nice use of kicks (or are they toms) as the beat evolves. great old-school vibe with that amen tease. i cant hear it, but i feel some sub action going on. i dont want to call it a break down or a build up. this has an idb feel to it. very close to old "shadow records." alright, at the 3 minute mark. good use of silence. heh the flanged cymblas are wearing on me... sweet reload on the transition tho. after you drop the syth line i recommend chopping up that amen more.
second listen:
bring out the chanting in the background during the intro. i like the dubby fx over the subs. yeah man, drop the flange on the cymbals when the beat drops at 3:15. you know what, you could even drop the cymbals all together around the 2:30 mark and reintroduce that chanting to carry the breakdown. then when the beat drops, bring back the cymbals without the flange. at 4:22, when you cut the synth rush and begin rolliing out the track, i recommend bringing back elemets from the intro and chopping up the amen. more snare raps and maybe a crash or two.
overall, this is great work for being a beginner. you have the ideas down, it sounds like the main thing from here is getting a hang of your equipment and reproducing the sounds in your head.
keep it up, and i hope this helped.

alright bro, i know you got it in you to put together some good shit.
but this song needs alot more to it. you need some more sounds to give you that vibe that you got started in there. maybe some pads,
maybe a snake raddle, i dont know. just be creative. but seriously, its good for one of the first. my first songs were all over the fuckin place.
at least you have good direction. o yeah, and in the end part of the song the bass is to high pitched. try dropping the tuneing down some keys and adding some kick. hahahaha, i cant wait to hear what crap people have to say about my tunes.

i dont think the phaser works with drums being such an integral part of the mix its funky but a bit too FXsy Imo,
not much seems to happen in the track at the beggining which would make ppl lose interest i was actually about to stop it cos i though it was the end till i heard sum windy sounds.
again the drums and phaser make the track hard to listen to.
also lack of variation in the programming but ok as an idea neds work.

I like the ethnic vocal it is quite good
not too keen on the kick.
maybe too much phase on the amen when it drops at first
seems to take forever to drop with no real build in tension.
the listener shouldnt be left waiting.
i do like your mid sample and your sub bass.
was kinda expectin a heavier drop
not too bad but defo needs work
