this is music production site so i think we gunna agree that a mc shud never ruin the music by not letting it get a word in,but wivout a mc a party, rave ent as good
a mc shud sumtimes complment the music
sumtimes keep the energy going during the break down, intro, or quite bits
sumtimes entertain
sumtimes hype the crown when dj drops the big dancefloor shakin roller
n sumtimes shut the fuck up.

I'm not an MC lover at all, I think mainly because the majority of MC's I've seen were plain bad. The ones I like are minimalistic, know when to say smth and communicate with the DJ during the performance.
Things I've seen I absolutely hate:
- MC's not knowing the tracks being played, most noticably when ranting on while there are lyrics in the track.
- MC's just saying smth cause they didn't say smth for a while cause they couldn't fit it in in the track.
- Calling for rewinds. I find rewinds themself already pritty retarded tbh, was one of the things that rly amazed me when I started going to dnb parties. They are not my thing - and an MC shouting for one should not be done without communicating with the DJ first.
- Constant 'flow' over the music. It's the music I want to listen to, not some guy thinking he has something interesting to say which nobody understands a anyway.
- Repeating stuff over and over again
- MC's who think they are the center of the universe on-stage. A lot of MC's I've seen simply act as if they are the master of the stage and they deserve all the credit. An MC can be part of the performance - sure, but they should keep relatively low profile and know what their place is on-stage.
I think the majority of sucky performances with MC's gave me this 'oh no an mc' feeling when I see one on a flyer or stage. Also - the stuff I listen to (the harder stuff) is usually a bit harder to MC on, and a lot of times tracks are not really suitable for MC'ing..

Nothing to add to that. The really hard stuff just works better without MC.

True - I wouldn't need speakers to hit you on the head with a baseball-bat
