My answer isn't up there: enough shutting up by the MC. I don't mean disrespect by that, I think you know what I mean. But if he sez something, I prefer a clear voice as it's less tiring for the ears to listen to.

same here....all of the above.
feelin the vibe (when to speak up and when not to),
obviously people must understand what yr saying(who likes to listen to someone muble?),
content doesn't matter that much to me. no need to talk 'bout lifes big issues (it's a party right) but try to be original (''put yr hands up , say boh'' etc
).
well just my view on what (to me) a good mc is about.

all been said many times before
my view is it one of those 'less is more' things.
when jamming on my guitar for example, its kinda the notes you dont play that create a good natural vibe
grew up with the mc thing impossible to avoid even in the early days but it dont matter too much in a club or at a rave to me.
its the cds that are released with constant chaating what ever the style.
CONSTANTLY reminding you who the mc is an the tune playin an the classic
'ur listenin to the sounds of.......and ..........' X 100000000000000 times

if they have to sound at all, i like my mcs to sound meaningful but mostly dark. I dont relaly like cheerful ones encouraging me to have a good time etc. I like them to sound ominous and vicious, cos it suits the music better. A well known example of a the kind of flow i really like is the guy of of the msx radio station on gta liberty city.
Does anyone here remember shabbas football rhymes at like 190 mph? They were hilarious

Fearless... love the fearless
Hype voice, good reggae/ragga flow, good hiphop flow and even his gibberish is dope. Probably my favourite MC.
I understand people not feeling an MC over sets cuz it can take away more than add, but if an MC knows how to do his job he'll know what to say and when to say it.
The absolute worst are MCs that call for reloads ON EVERY TRACK!
I've seen MCs actually reach over the tables and rewind a track themselves!
Some MCs just need to know thier role.

hahaaaaaaa, dont get me started on the gta thing your makin me wanna go an start a whole new thread on it.
i'll boil it down to this......:
I believe gta 3 is the best game out of the 5
vice city was great at first but, i always prefered the previous,
san andreas was completly different in ever way, a complete new level, the only fault imo is no dnb radio staions..
harsh
but gta 3 was like a ray of light at a time when all was dark in my life
heavy

I like my MC's to be mic-less. I cant fucking stand them. Made the stupid mistake of playing a set with a mic plugged in, and shit loads of MC's came onto the stage and started trying to MC at 210 bpm over a track with lyrics! Fucking idiots. And then one of them asked me if I could play anything more chilled out. Told him to fuck off. Anyway, all of them where out of time, had shite lyrics, and no idea of where the beat was. I really hate that thing that MC's do where they have a few little rhymes that theyve thought up, and do those over and over again, and in between do the bibabibabibabo, dibadibadibadoo bollocks. Either way, I ended up unplugging the mic and the MC thought that the resulting cheer from the crowd was for him, what a wanker. I dont mind tracks with MCing on them because chances are that the lyrics might actually mean something. But the live "improvisation" (bo bo bidabidabo!) bollocks is fucking shite IMO.

This is absolutely true but, ...
Please stop generalising your bad experiences with some blokes as a hate towards mc s (techdiff). I said this befor but hey, WTF. We can be at this the whole day discussing wether we want mc s or not. Start a diff thread please, cause every time an mc discussion pops up, some people always wanna take it in that direction, despite the fact you said it before. Really man, been there, seen it, heard that, ...
And when you re spinning and you don t want people to mc, just tell them to stop, or cut the mic. simple as that. I don t say that you should ve let them spit, not at all. I even agree that a decent mc should deff know when to back out and especially whe the dj thinks his set will be better without, an mc has gotta have the respect to understand that. However, the story that you tell, really doesn t make me believe those guys where mc s. More like wanna be rudebwoys if you ask me.
Don t get me wrong, i don t wanna put you in your place or anything. I just wanted to know what people like about mc s so we can focus on that. A pitty the discussions always have to go this way.
however, thanks to people who made usefull comments
apreciated
