aaahaa behringer.
ahhh...
welll
ahhh...
you should probably use the delay in it to allow it to read ahead to give a smoother mix. set the threshold not too deep, and have a mild ratio on, 1:2 - 1:4. that's a pretty good standard to have a nice smooth, un noticable compression. a gentle attack and release.
i hope thats in the "Finalize Matrix for 25 variations in style and rate" i am guessing thats presets. but if you have an attack and release, don't make them quick.
don't use auto make up on the gain if it's for the master track. individual instruments probably. this will bring up the gain automaticly to the loudest it can before hitting the threshold. can make it bad for some insturments, if there's a manual setting you can set it to just a few dB.
why did you get a piece of equipment that you don't know how to use. RTFM. get a book on studip stuff if you're serious.
Modern Recording Techniques, Sixth Edition (Paperback)
by David Miles Huber, Robert E. Runstein
this will ahve stnadard settings on equpiment, analog tapes are even mentoned for most pro studios. micing instruments. room acoustics, phyco-acoustics.
i am only pushing this book because it is the bible of eingeering.
if you ignore this, i am not surprised you'd rather wate your money on equipment you don't know how to use, in hopes it will make you sound good, fast. as if all you need is that limiter and you'll finally be as good as (Artist/Producer).
this book will tell you what that meters mean, and why it's good to dither to 16 or 20 bit. or what A/D converters are.
i assume you don't know that, becaus eyou got some weird equipment and assume we know how it works. you don't understand that the connection to yuor computer means absolutly nothing to use, for it's int he computer setting. unless "air" means hiss.
havn't even heard a demo.
you got behringer, which is all flashly lights for chips that liek shiny things, and

is DEFINATLY AN EYE CANDY, and looka the nobs. almost Freudian sort of fetish with thoes knobs eh? all thoes ELD's that move and move when you play that sweet tune ouy made that'll get heavy roatation on local radio stations, as soon as you get that song renderd. just by osmosis.
for Retail Price: $1,595.00 US
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FinalizerExp/
spend the money. read about it. if not, just mail me your money and i'll tell you all you need to know you cna call me at any time oyu have a question. i'd gladly do that for a couple hundred dollers even. i'll give you a deal.
p.s. i had to do a assignment on a piece of Signal Processor and this will work. HA! i hope you didn't spend more than 1k, cuz there's a CRAZY deal here. you can do good mixes without ever using compressors. specialyl in drum and bass. unlie other dnace music, there's dynamics in it. subtle druming and such. not just an 909 kick snare with O-Hat's between.
