Can anyone help me out with saving live streams (.asx files)? If I do it with save as or right click-> save target I only get the link (as a .asx file), but I want it completely saved on my PC.
Thx in advance,
Scion

OK, here we go:
there's windows media stream recorder, U can find it on http://www.netfor2.com
for Mac user's there's StreamripperX: look @ http://streamripper.soundforge.net.
Haven't tested them myself, & I don't know if they will work for any kind of stream, but it's worth a try.

Are there other options, or are there only 2? Just asking, I'm willing to play the field here

I save streams all the time. If you have any program that records from mic you can probably also record straight from your soundcard. Cool Edit or even plain ol sound recorder that comes with every PC will work.
Open Windows Mixer (volume control) go into properties, select recording and make sure wave out box is checked, click ok, then click the box to select wave out as the recording source. This makes your soundcard output your recording input. Simply record while you stream, there you go.
Cool Edit or a similar recording program is better than Windows Sound Recorder cause in that program you have to do a trick to make it work.
In sound recorder, record 60(default time) seconds of silence, then select copy, select paste insert to make your maximum recording time 2 minutes instead of 1, repeat for your desired length to record. When you save a really large one it takes a while to process especially if you have a bad comp so be careful.
Well yeah, there you go.
