Yes, Jodo rules. I must admit, I have never seen any of his movies, but I try to read as many of his comics as I can. My avatar is from The Metabarons.

I really like his comics of the Incal universe, which include The Incal, Before the Incal (or The Youth of John Difool), After the Incal, The Metabarons, The Technopriests and Megalex. Bouncer is very hard and very good too!
The Incal comics are released in English by Humanoids Publishing, in French by Les Humanoides and in Dutch by Arboris and Oog & Blik. I don't know about other languages...

I had a quick spy on amazon & they look wicked man. Have you read any White Lama? It just caught my attention as I was looking though.
To be honest though his comics look a hellava lot different to his film - you wont see any sci fi there at all. I urge you though, to check them out coz they really are something else.
watch out for 'El Topo', 'The Holy Mountain' and 'Santre Sangre'

I have read 1 of the 6 books of the White Lama, but I don't remember much of it as it is quite a while ago
I've wanted to see his movies for quite some time, but I can't seem to find them around here
Isn't he working on a new one at the moment? Abelcain or something?

Yeah, unfortunately they're not the easiest movies to get hold of, particularly El Topo & The Holy Mountain. If your interested in getting they are available at Sazuma Trading but they're 28EUR each which is pretty steep.
Sante Sangre should be quite easy to get hold of - dunno if it would be the same for you in belgium but from amazon.co.uk its £8. Im not sure if that movie is the best introduction to his films though, you might be better off with one of the other two I mentioned first.
According to the message boards on IMDB Abelcain has been in production for about 3 years so far & a release isnt looking that promising
shame coz the story really sounds excellent and its a sort of sequel to El Topo
"After a nuclear apocalypse, the whole landscape is a desert ruin, except for a small island paradise where El Topo is buried. Though visible and seemingly accessible, every attempt to enter this island has resulted in disaster. El Topo´s sons, Cain and Abel, were separated as boys because El Topo predicted that Cain would kill Abel. But when evil marauders steal their mothers´s body in an attempt to trick their way into the island, the brothers join forces to deliver their dead mother to be buried with their father. Not only must they overcome an enemy adept at technological witchery, they must overcome the curse that marks their destiny."
Darn, nevermind i'll just have to watch the others again then wait with baited breath for David Lynch's 'Inland Empire'

I really liked the metabarons saga, it kept me up for a while, gimenez is a huge drawer
didn't really dig the whole john difool story though, mainly because of janjetov's drawing

That's the 'Before the Incal' cycle. The main cycle and the 'After the Incal' are drawn by Moebius. Janjetovs drawing has improved too, if you look at the Technopriets, allthough that has to do with the good coloring by Fred Beltran offcourse

In France they have all been rereleased with new coloring (I think by Beltran, not sure) and a new cover in the last years. By Les Humanoides offcourse.
