Im sick of seeing adverts on the TV for albums by flash in the pan talentless piss streaks, where the voice over or review snippet describes the affore mentioned album as "THE album of 2005" or something similarly vague, when anybody with half an ear can reel of a list of albums that are better, thats not a taste thing or anything, its fact! James Blunt is a little tosspot full of the jism from all the radio brown noses whove been screwing him anally! This is fact. He is not the best thing since sliced bread, you are NOT beautiful, and his piece of shit album is not "The album of the year!" (sorry if youve not heard of James Blunt, but believe me, you're the lucky one)
Anyway......., figured it'd be interesting (and more truthful) to find out what your favourite releases in 2005 where. Any style, any artist, any format, singles EP's or albums doesnt matter.
I'll start it off with (in no particular order)
Venetian Snares, Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett
Wisp, Nrthnder
Luke Vibert, Lovers acid
Tim Exile, Proagonist
AFX, Some of the Analord stuff
Wrong music, Whatever!
What about you lot?

Not really into album releases & stuff, but indeed, VS - Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett is very nice. Also the latest Autechre album (Untilted - no not "Untitled") is very good imho.

Probably not gonna happen. He's still releasing the odd thing here an there, but most of its been pretty dire. He did a four track with LFO a little while back, but the LFO tracks pissed all over the AFX stuff, it just wasnt pretty. Dont get me wrong, I love Aphex's stuff, but I think that he doesnt appreciate that its a loyal and loving fanbase that have got him to where he is, and I dont think he has any respect for his fans, hence no releases. I think that AFX has always been into music as a job as a way of avoiding having to earn money another way. Im sure he is still making blinding stuff, he's just not gonna release it. He doesnt need to since the pirelli ad.
A lot of my mates are a bit hung up over this, waiting desperatly for the next Aphex release while ignoring all the other great artists emerging at the moment, some who to me seem far more talented than AFX was early on in his career. People like wisp, chevron, and vex'd.
For me Venetian Snares has taken the throne once ocupied by the twin. His stuff is consistantly good, and although he doesnt vary between styles that much he always hits the nail... plumb.
I cant wait for the next Aphex album, but whether its ever gonna happen is anybodys guess. In the mean time there pleanty of other artist trying to carve themselves a career.
