Please check out my new track 'Death of a Samurai' and post your comments here!!!

Vocals are done by Erina Z, the maraka used in this track was inherited last fall from my grandmother; and the main cymbal is an actual sword sound we found and equailized to sound like a cymbal. Z

When i read the description i knew i had to listen to the track.

Drums are crisp and well defined. Song is well structured.
Very atmopsheric start with the flutey sound, almost felt like i was in Japan. Sub work is good as well, IMO sub could roll a long a bit more.

Enjoyed listening to song a lot

Thanks for the listen, we were trying to keep to an empthy sort of sad/dark feel. We will see what we can do about making the bass roll. Z

nice intro maybe drop the introdrums now... that voice is good from quality
drums are improved and stereowide , maybe turn it a litle mono
drop is nice n chill , sword cymbal sounds very nice.
reece from 03:13 sounds Frown , not that good , like you did something digital with it.
maybe adding a layerd phat snare in some parts would sound nice.
structure is ok , ... nothing more to remark... Tongue

Cool track Nick

soft and clean sounds that fit into the atmosphere. not my taste, but that doesn't mean that this is a good production... i hoped to hear more variation in the melody line, high overal rating from me !

the drums sound awesome... the bass needs a faster progression. the drop before 4:00 was hella smooth the atmosphere is clean and floats about perfectly. i would like to hear the bass roll a bit more in the start of the track. this song is needing to be heard by the folks who make movies. the organic sounds are key. proper mixture of digital vs. human in your sound selection. i kept waiting to hear some more vocals, spoken word maybe, tips of wisdom from an eastern culture, something along those lines. what city did you live in? have you made many "themed" songs before? flex that skill zz! peace.

Thanks for your review and advice, I am from Las Vegas now living in Okinawa, Japan with my wife Erina who is from Hokaido, Japan. it's the northern most of the large Japanese islands where Samurai's roamed long ago. We have been working on some hip-hop as well with the same type of ideas leaning a little more to the movie side of the house...

i was intrigued by the idea of this track..

intro is cool (jsut cut that lil loopin part in the very veyr beginnin, its clipping Wink **after second listen that may have been my winamp**

vox are cool...
drums sound good...

sub sounds pretty clear...
drops a bit cheesy... but it matches melody wich is good...

leads a bit digital though... both of them...

Over all this sounded pretty cool... seems liek it was more of an atmospheric listen than anything thing... deff not a club track, or mix track, but sounded good none the less...

my only issues were that the bass's seemed a bit thin, cheesy, and chinsy... try just using some diff synths... not sur ewaht you used to make this...but the leads are buggin me out and not in a good way Tongue ... Also the track doesnt really go anywhere... its very repetetive, but again it may because this is more of a listen rather than get dance kind of thinhg...And last but not least...All dnb should be in mono.. even teh drums and everything else... it helps to balance everything else...

dont know that i can objectively rate this without being harsh cause of personal tastes, and how the track progresses... so for the time being i will not rate..

In the end.. good listen... but nothing i would put on repeat..

Thanks for the listen, don't think we were satisfyed after trying a few synths, we used Pro53 for that. Def. not a dance track and that you are 100% right about. Thanks for the advice! Z

Love the intro dude, it gots a nice Japanese feeling ... That vocal is nice, good quality ...

Love how clear the drums sound, but you could've done allot more with it, not allot of variation in them huh? ...

You said that cymbal is a sword-hit huh? Pretty nice shit, I've also found a few sword-hits but I just ignored them cause I thought they where useless ... well guess I was wrong ...

2:08 That "bass" sound coming in ... not digging this mate ... it doens't really fit with the atmo ... you chould screw around a lil' with it till it sounds Japanese, and it could use allot of fucking bass dude, cause the song is bassless now Pleased ...

The death of a samurai deserves more crazy shit than this Big Grin Make it more emotional ... you got that flute allright allready now for the bass ...

Nice ideas and nicely experimented ... keep this shit up Bigup

I like the whole idea of this song Smile
i do think that that the attack on the first lil riff is a bit too long, and i think that given the name, it needs a few japanese instruments in the quiet sections?
its hard to describe the drums really, they fit in with the theme of the song really well, but i think they can get a lil bit repetitive after a while...
a breakdown section with japanese everything would be awesome, make the most of your title Big Grin
I think that the bass at 2:09 is a bit harsh, maybe a bit too dirty as well, and a bit too punchy for the ambient feel of the song...

Intro is haunting - like the vocal samples a lot could be backed up by some other atmos. Cool work getting that sword sound. Drums are really nice and crisp - cool hi eq sounds along with the main beat. Bass is heavy and full, and a nice melodic feel - like the bar ending sounds. Breath sounds and some of those freaky ring type horror movie sounds are awesome. Track lacks energy and drive but it's obviously not that type of track so thats not a criticism - suits the vibe (and the title) of the track.

Thanks again for sorting out my waves problems!! Bigup
