Please check out my new track 'pest control man' and post your comments here!!!

Hi
This is my first upload.
All the drum patens are original and most of the noises have been constructed myself. All of my software is free from the Computer Music mag and free down loads. The crystal synth is free and brilliant. I have however paid for one drum sample CD, trad jazz Kits. I actually have plenty to keep me amused. The reason why I have not splashed out IS I don’t back lame ducks; but If I feel confident about my efforts, I certainly will.
This is a good example of the sort of stuff I seam to end up with.

I liked it. Very oldschool MOD-like imo. Not much of dnb here,
but it's very atmospheric and has a mood!

Dude, don't follow the rules, make tunes like this one! Bigup Bigup

I am a beginner when it comes to DnB production so in no way do I think I know it all, however I do know what I like. As for 'Pest Control Man' I think it was different and original. It wasn't copied from anyone else's style. (So kudos for that, alot of stuff sounds the same these days) I think the stereo pans( I think that's what they're called..??) at about 1:30 threw the tune off a little bit. And, the tune's not really MY particular style, but structure-wise I thought it was pretty good. So, I hope that helped at least a little bit.....maybe? Hopefully, soon I'll post one of my bits so u guys can give it a review. Keep trying tho. You can only get better.

I liked the track as it brings back memories from my youth (after all I´m an old fart) I used to be involved in the demo scene on the Amiga (home computer popular in´85-´95 period). It sounds like it was made in a tracker style program.

I must agree that a lot of stuff sounds the same these days, but then again, some basic elements should be there in order to call a track "drum&bass I guess".

The track is well mixed and the sounds are of good quality. The structure is fine, but the panning stuff made me wonder if my headphone was still in good order so I´d let that out or modify it to avoid this impression if I were you.

Your drums could use some effects as they sound rather "traditional" (as if a real drummer was playing drums) whilst the rest of the track is much more electro. Also the drums don´t have a "flow" which is so typical for drum&bass.

I think you´ve been doing some / listening to Gothic stuff before?

Thanks. A lot for your responds to my efforts,
I put this track together with two speakers and I was impressed with the panning but I was surprised to found it a bit disappointing when I used headphones.
I am an ex Commodore 64 man and I was surprised to find its influence was so discernable, and I do like that old 1950s drum sound so I was pleased to hear you say that the drums sounded like they were played by a drummer. I rely do want to try something different so I intend on experimenting a bit further in this direction.
I am soon going to upload (ECHO’S of DUB). As reggae dub was one of the major forerunners of D&B I would like to see if it still works.
