"tik" and "e" are the ghostsnares , they have a different tone .
"tik" is one tone higher than "e"
difficult to explain , but thats what it is.

Its about getting your beats to sound natural. If you listen to a real drummer playing you'll notice that every time they hits a drum theylll hit it slightly differently, whether they hit it slightly quieter, on a different part of the skin, and how theyre holding the sticks. It all makes a difference.
Its the same as when your programming a beats, if you have a simple Kick, snare, and hats beat, and all the velocoties are the same, you end up with a rigid, dull, and boring beats. You can emulate the phrasing and emphasis of a real drummer by altering the velocoties, filtering, and length of the hits. You can even try moving the beats ever so slightly to give a slightly looser "human" feel.
A ghost snare is just one of these methods. A way of giving the beat a more natural sound. A very quiet snare hit which just adds a little rythmical interest to the beat as a whole, keeps it moving along but without being intrusive.

Ghostsnares often have these characteristics
- Less loud
- Shorter
- Not the full frequency range of the normal snares (fitered, different EQ or different layering)

thx guys, all sounds like good advice. anybody heard of a "roffel" or something like that? i had this Total Science "Make Me Feel" drum kit and one of the samples is called "roffel" and it sounds like the 'tik e tik e' sound, so i processed it and used it. I'll try those other methods u guys explained so it'll sound more original. I just dont have alot of resources right now. Thx again.
