Please check out my new track 'Uruk-Hai Monk' and post your comments here!!!
My newest track! I feel that this is a HELL of a lot better than my last one and maybe my best one so far. Also my first entirely amen-based track. The MC at the end of the song is a norwegian MC called Berzerker.
In case you wondered: Yes, this is also an experimental track, and a succesful one imo. Quite different from what I have been posting here earlier.
Reviews are most welcome as always, I'm wondering what you guys will make of this. I'd consider this track finished, if I didn't know some of you guys would make me work more on it.
Actually I hooked up with that guy first time a couple of days ago, still haven't met him in person. If you like his style visit: http://www.myspace.com/berseeerker
Cheese you say? I was going to put a warning on the notes saying "WARNING! BUCKET-LOADS OF CHEESE" hehe, but I forgot. That synth is supposed to be cheesy, that's what makes it cool.
As for stressfulness, I like hecticism, most all my DnB-tracks are hectic and constantly changing.
Thanks for the review dude, even though I thought 5.6 was a little strict...
don't know about the sid station ish video game synth in the intro.
organ synth is cool, not really cheesy to me since i havent heard it in a while.
but the melody is not at all like something i'd expect from dnb.
vocals are chopped nicely.
hm...since this is obviously experimental i'm not gonna go on about how it sounds ridiculous being called dnb and jus say that its cool.
wow...hardcore mc. like that kinda shit? try out Wolfpac.
but its really random all the way thru yeah.
its so experimental i dont think im gonna rate it...
Nice amens. Liking the melodies in this one. A bit simple but sounds original, not like everything else.
A lot of changes, that makes it very interesting to listen to. Some things sound a bit out of place and
theme time from time. Definetly an original and interesting track. Has something about it. Cheers!
__ Right now I'm in the process of making up a good sig.
Well, I for one just can't get enough of that c64 sound, but that probably has to do with my childhood, and I don't expect everybody to feel the same way
Random? If this was random it would be completely impossible to listen to. I put a lot of work in making sure that every part follows logically from the last one, and I feel that they do (am I the only one?)
Without people experimenting at the fringes then music would never really gain any momentum and go forward. We would be stuck with shit like Backstreet boys.
From this track i can tell you have a real good ear for melody, the track is like a story that progesses taking you through a musical landscape. I wasnt too sure at first but as the track progressed it reminded my of the kind of thing gorillaz are doing.
the paddy sound is a little chessy but like you said its supposed to be,
i'm quite partcial to a bit of cheese.
the layering of the atmospheric sounds is nice.
and the counter mellodies are nice too.
once agian its ever changing. good variation all the way thought.
i agree with what someone else said it is like a story unfolding in front of my eyes.....well ears.
i'm not too sure bout the mc bit on the end, its not that i don't like it its just that imo it doesn't fit the rest of the track.
the melodys sound like they came straight outta japanesse RPG.
Alright dude. Loving the 8 bit synth noises at the begining. Bass sound is nice. I really like the melodies. Hell yeah its cheezy, but that doesnt make it bad. Drums need a bit more of a punch when theyve fully come in. I dont like the second melody that comes in. Its cool, but the switch between them is pretty odd. I like the chopped up female vox, it works nicely in the fill but not so much over the tune. The changes are cool, makes the track more of a composition than just a standard DnB tune. Im loving the organ that comes in. Needs to be louder and bassier too. This has got a really nice vibe to it, a little bit White Zombie almost. I dont really like MC's, but this guys vocals work well with the style of the track. He does actually sound like the guy in the track Berzerker. "Would you like to suck my dick BERZERKER!!!!" (Does anybody know who thats by?) Overall I really like the track. I think there are a couple of changes near the begining which need to be tidied up, and the drums need more punch, But other than that I love it, Nice one!
mellody is rubbing me in the wrong way, like the drumz, but they can use more punch! Bass line is alright. Outro is crazy/wierd, don't like the fade at all... 5/10* Z
Quite differing opinions on this one...I'm going to work more on the drums, probably layer'em with an additional snare. Apart from that I won't do much, I'm pretty happy with it the way it is
Fat intro man, typicall Dubrain Hertz sounds, I like this shit ...
Wow, drums fading in with a nice melody ... O MY GOD .. It's an amen break !!! That's what I'm talking about, mix that Dubrain style with a nice break and not a break you created yourself
...
Wow this tune has a japanese feeling to it, like this ...
Damn man, you sliced that amen up real good didn't you, I knew this was gonna sound good, cause in your other songs the drums are made up by you and they sound very natural, like you drummed them yourself (Ignorance is Biz)
... you have a natural tallent to slice up breaks man, come on it's the first time you use one and it's banging
1:10 is awesome, nice japanese melody with a cool v-sample nice man ...
You created a nice buildup towards the end, that MC-part sounds pretty nasty with that fat beat ...
Goddamn man can't wait to hear the next cause this is starting to sound better and better ...
I would say : keep the freaky sounds and melody Dubrain Hertz feeling and mix it with a nice DnB-break and you got some nice freaky shit goin' on .. ( I told you didn't I
)
Thanks guys, actually it's not really japanese, but very much chinese. I've seen countless Hong Kong movies, and I'm probably a little brainwashed by them.
