I think I'm going to get an new music computer. Peaple are constantly telling me how good Mac is, but I'm not really convinced. If you compare a Mac with for example Frost acm, wich is a musiccomputer optimised for music. Which is best? And do you get more computer for the money if you choose mac?
I run Fl studio, and samplitude.

if u want to keep using FL, stay with the PC..
the people who make FL are stupid enough to not bring out a mac version of FL..
FL is actually keeping me with pc..and money offcoarse
but still: what can possibly be cooler than having a G5 under your desk, and one of those apple giga screens on your desk

Well, PC can be limitlessly upgraded... can't say the same for Mac...
best to have them both, but as you know, mac is EXPENSIVE

PC all the way f'sure...
unless ur a mac junkie and really like the way they set up.
MACs are good for multimedia. id say more movies and shit like that instead of music production.
and yeah MAC = expensive. you can build your own PC, the way u want it.

its gotta be pc. The few people i know with macs have only ever had problems, the support network for ps is vast (i am sure it is for mac to but how many people do you know in your area who can help with pc problems?). Also to quote an earlier post 'you can build a pc how you need/want it to work'

i disagree... #1 macs are way mre powerfull #2 they have more sufficient processing power... #3 you can go to the website and builld your own just like a PC, a much mores sufficient setup (its so easy its rediculous)... Macs ARE MADE FOR LOTS OF GRAPHIC WORK, AND MUSIC...
isnt it funny that MAC happens to own the best production and recdording software on the market?? Logic Pro 7.0???
pc has its advantages but if youre doing thsi urely for production.. go mac...
its like buying a car... Pc is a standard sedan, and Mac is a nice higher quality luxary vehicle... a little more money, a better ride, and nice all around...
my opinions though... but take a look at how well theyre deoing.. and who in the inudstry uses them... almost EVERYONE

I dont think that Macs are any more powerful than PC's. In fact the oposite. Ive seen Pc's that would kick the shite out of a G5 AND they dont look like an air conditioner. Macs are a lot more expensive, theyre great if you want to use Logic 7, but Logic isnt the only good software under the sun. There are hundreds of good programs that are Windows exclusive, there are hundreds of utilities that are windows exclusive too. Not to mention the upgrades that you can do to a PC, sure you can upgrade a mac to a certain degree, but your not really open to different manufacturers who specialise in one particular component.
To be blunt, I think a lot of people buy macs for the asthetic value more than anything else which, I guess for some people its important to have a plasticy white blob on your desk.
The only real advantage that macs have over a PC is that less people design viruses to work inside OSX but unless your a porn addicted retard there shouldnt be a problem with using a PC.

The thing is that on same processor speed (MHz) Macs are better because of their architecture build, but that is constantly falling... pc is upgrading really fast (remember USB standard!! That was the concept of the century! All things on one universal port) and nVidia/Intel/AMD sockets are REALY REALY HOT!
They are getting better, Surora, no matter how much your favourize the mac. The mac is more used by the industry because guys like you say that everyone in the industry use mac. Well, they don't.

If you want to use Logic or Protools TDM/HD, definitely go for a mac. And the major advantage of a mac is ofcourse not the hardware, but the MacOS X!!!
Those new quad-G5's look absolutely yummy, but I'm going to wait until the Intel-Macs arrive before buying one.

MAC are way more staple than PC since the H/W is under one standard.... I mean, dozen of manufactrer on PC side and not so much on the APPLE side..... and that's because of this stability that the industry prefer mac.....
Wait and see the 64bit version of the PC's soft ..... and we'll carry on then.......

i think you gotta be really really good before the mac or pc thing becomes an issue.
i've heard mates tracks on pc's that kick ass.
sure there may be advantages to gettin one over the other but i still believe in wont affect 80% of the producers who upload here for example....

when you work in an industry you go by the standards, and atm mac is the standard for graphics/music production
but it doesn't mean it's the best
imho the best solution is your solution : if you're confident enough in your computer maintenance skills go PC coz you're gonna have to tweak it anyway, if you're concerned with flawless productivity go mac but it's gonna cost you a lot
it's jsut an updated version of the good old services triangle : you can only have 2 options out of the 3 following : affordability, power, reliability
